Q: Why is a pregnant women given EPIDOSIN? Can it be given to a women with negative blood group
Jasmine (Calcutta, India)

A: Epidosin can be given to help the cervix to dilate faster thereby cutting short the labour pains duration. It can be given to previous lscs patients but cannot be given to women with a negative blood group.

Q: I have already stepped in the ninth month of my pregnancy. Although I am very excited for the baby's arrival after a long wait, I am also extremely scared about the labour pains. I have always been very delicate and just don't know how will I be able to bear the labour pains. I have also heard a lot of myths that the baby will be dark if I drink tea. I have been having it twice a day. Is this true?
Roshni (Mumbai, India)

A: You can take an epidural anaesthesia for the pain, if it gets unbearable. There is nothing that can really change the complexion of your baby. Taking iron or drinking tea will not make your baby dark.

Q: Is the epidural block that is applied during delivery, safe? Also, are there any risks or any long-term effects associated with an epidural?
Padma (Jonpur, India)

A: Applying an epidural block during delivery is safe. Generally there are no risks involved as very fine disposable needles are used to do this procedure.
