10 Signs of Confident Children

Confident children have unique abilities which can help them to excel any walk of life. As such, it is essential for parents to watch-out for such qualities so that their talent does not remain unidentified. Let us take a look at the top 10 signs of confident children.

Low self esteem in children is what most parents have to deal with. If you are lucky, your child is stable and does not have any esteem issues. A rare case is where parents have to deal with a confident child who is already behaving like an adult, giving the parents instructions about the way they should work around the house, shining bright in school and is looked up to by his or her peers. It is great news indeed. But parents have to be watch-out for the overconfidence in their children which is bad for their development.
It is necessary though; that you recognise as early as possible if your child is one of the confident lot. It makes it easier for you to design the rules for them. Confidence does not always mean discipline and can have other implications as well. Here are ten signs that will surely help you to understand if your kid is a confident child.

Good at Something or the Other

If your child is a confident child, you must have observed how good her or she is at something, do not feel the need to show off or prove to people of their abilities. He or she does not feel the need of validation by anyone. He or she knows what he or she is and what he or she is capable of.

Avoid Attention Seeking

Kids who are confident about themselves do not try to seek people’s attention to feel better about themselves. It is not necessary for them to get their ego stroked. Their talents automatically attract people’s attention without them publicizing about it.

Charisma

There is something naturally charismatic and attractive about people who are confident about themselves. They actually get noticed and people can sense their confidence and are attracted to them. Relatives, peers and teachers are affected by their charisma.

Cheerfulness

Confident people hardly ever suffer depression. They stay happy and also their happiness is infectious. They can make everyone around them happy by their cheerful disposition. They seem to exude joy.

Shine Bright

Children who are confident have an aura of their own. There is no exaggeration. If your child is confident you will automatically notice it. Confident children stand out in a room full of people, shining in their personal glow. People around them can easily sense it.

Quiet

Unlike popular belief, confident children are not the most dominating and talkative ones in a class. They do not show off by talking about how good they are or by raising their voice to attract attention to them. Confident kids can be the low key and quiet ones. They are able to express opinions efficiently but prefer to be quiet.

Truthfulness

A distinct quality that is seen in most confident kids is truthfulness. The confident kids prefer to live happy and not resort to wrong, forbidden things. Therefore they have no reason to lie about anything. They always tell the truth, even if they have made any mistake.

Sensibility

Confident kids have a logical opinion about everything that they see or hear. Unlike many kids, they do not just argue till they get their point across. Their opinions are mature and sensible and not given in a self important manner.

Authentic

Confident kids do not feel the need to fake anything. Kids often fake things to come into the limelight. Confident kids are fully aware of what talents they have. They behave as they are instead of faking to be someone they are not. Their true personality shines through them.

Loved

Yes, it is true, confident people, no matter how quiet they are, are liked by most people. Being around them gives others positivity.
Recognize your child’s confidence and never try to stop them from being authentic. Appreciate them but never pressurise them to achieve more. They are well aware of their capabilities and their limits.

How to make sure that children do not become overconfident? What are the characteristics of confident children? How to help confident children use their abilities the right way? Discuss here.

It is the duty of parents to identify such qualities in children and help them use it in the right way. Otherwise being confident will be of no use for them.
