We have a tradition of giving honey to new born. I am not sure whether we can give it or not. I have read some where that it can cause new born Infant Boutlisum .

Infant botulism or intestinal botulism is caused by swallowing the spores of the botulinum bacteria, which then grow inside the infant' s intestines and release toxin which can b caused due to intake or Honey.


Please let me know whether we can give Honey to new born or not.

Its a tradition in our fmly too...giving honey to newborn...but i never allowed them to do so for my first....and am not going to give honey to this baby too. When we are aware of the effects....when we know it ' might' cause some serious thing why should we risk it?

Try to explain if your parents/inlaws insist....
