hi kriti & sudha,

i appreciate your feedback and comments on your learning of lifecell and relicord. i am still pretty confused about which one to pick though i do know one thing, i do want to preserve my baby' s cells knowing the history of cancer on my husband' s side of the family & my mother-in-law just having gone through 3rd stage cancer and the treatment. one Q i have for kriti is, as per my impression with my talks with relicord, the cells only last for 21 yrs.. correct me if i am wrong. so there' s no question of shifting from one company to the other at the end of 21 yrs.

if anyone else has more input to share, please write in.. it will help all of us in need of information

Hello Riya,
Answer to your query: The preservation of stem cells are done for 21 yrs. The extension is possible after 21 yrs., the contract will be renewed with the child with applicable cost after 21 yrs., if he is willing to continue the same. Though the no. of cells preserved after delivery will be reduced to some %, usually the healthy placenta has around 4 to 4.5 thousand stem cells, the no. may reduced to around 1000 over a period of 21 yrs. but then no worries because life cell is in process of introducing duplication of stem cells, so we may have more no.of cells also. Usually the serious diseases are detected around 40 yrs. of age so we shall prepare ourselves for the renewel of contract also.

take care

Love
Kriti

Hi, we got some information from lifecell chennai. they preserve it for 21 years and after that we have to pay and ask them for storage. life cell has tie up with a US company. the stored cells may be used twice or thrice for treatment depending on the disease that ur treating and the persons age and weight. since lifecell has tie up with foreign company they do not have any problems transporting the cells if we require it. their lab is in chennai-vandalur. they have three different payment options. cord blood will be collected during delivery from wherever you are. In case if u want to take a little of it for treatment i guess ramachandra hospital in chennai will help you with that.
