Hi would-be-moms,

i am glad to join this discussion group. I am going to be mom for the first time in June 08,and have recently been diagnosed with GDM.

Does anyone on this board has the same condition, or do you know someone who has had GDM during pregnancy? Can anybody put my anxiety to rest?

betsy replied. hi there, i had Gdd when i was preggy with 1st child. just has to learn to control it with food and exercise. used to eat lots of vegetables,salads,dals. cut down on starch - like rice, potatoes,etc. ask ur doc what fruits u can have,i think guava is good. go for a walk everyday.be active. and dont worry be happy. tej replied. hey, can you tell me how much was your sugar during your GTT,, did u do modified GTT, has your doc started you with some kinda treatment?
some women do get GDM during last trimester,Because of the hormonal changes insufficient insulin is formed in the body which is why the sugar levels rise in the body causing GDM. now in this whole thing the baby too is subjected to high glucose levels in the body thts y his pancreas get the load too, also the baby grows in size too much for the gestational age and its difficult to have normal delivery.
Many women do get GDM or hypertension , during pregnancy. Pl dont worry , its good tht u know the problem so tht you can take right action, correct diet and exercise is the key, if sugar increases far beyond this level then they start with insulin injection.
