TAME FRIZZY HAIR - by Editor

 'I have thick, black, rough and dry shoulder-length hair. I wash
and condition my hair once a week. Though my hair feels silky to the touch
when wet, after it dries it gets so frizzy! I am at a loss and just don't
know what to do. I constantly keep my hair tied, and wish I could leave
it open at times, but I cannot. Please help me!'

Millions of women around the globe suffer from exactly the same problem:
frizzy, uncontrollable and untidy locks.
Just as a woman with a low metabolism rate will need to exercise more
to lose weight, so also, a woman with frizzy hair will need to put in additional
effort if she wants her hair to look good. Simply shampooing and conditioning
hair is not adequate 'not if you want to get rid of the frizz.'
Moisture
Hair which is naturally frizzy lacks moisture and protein. Thus, the
first step you need to take is to ensure your hair has sufficient moisture.
Apply egg yolk to your hair around half an hour before washing your
hair.
Wash your hair with a moisturizing shampoo, and follow up with a conditioner.
Unless you exercise, you need wash your hair only once a week.
Invest in leave-in conditioner. After washing and conditioning, towel
dry hair and apply a small amount of leave-in conditioner to the ends of
your hair.
Styling your hair
If your hair is frizzy, you will need to spend some time styling it
if you want it to look good. Do you want to go straight or curly? Once
you have that worked out, apply a generous dollop of gel to damp hair to
hold the style and to tame frizzies, and get started.
Curly:
Apply rollers and leave them on until your hair dries completely. Avoid
applying heated rollers unless essential. You could also apply sponge rollers
at night, and remove them the next morning.
Straight:
If you want to straighten your hair instead, blowdry it straight with
the help of a round brush.
Blowdrying all your hair together will be of little use; you need to
blowdry small sections at a time.
Clip up the damp, unstyled hair with the help of two clips, and proceed
to blowdry small sections, starting from the back of your head.
When the hair is almost dry, reduce the heat of the blow dryer so you
don't over-dry it.
Be patient. The entire process may take half an hour. Don't rush it,
or you will not get the results you want.
Grow your hair long, as short hair tends to curl faster. If your hair
is long, due to the weight, the curls open up. Your hair would be far easier
to blowdry, and it will stay straight longer.
Oil
Safflower oil is excellent for frizzy hair. When your hair is completely
dry, after styling it, apply 2-3 drops of safflower oil to your palms and
rub them together. Apply this oil to the ends of your hair. Use more oil
for longer hair, but ensure that the amount you apply is very little, so
your hair does not look sticky. Leave this oil on in your hair. This will
help tame the frizzes.
Chemical Treatments
You could consider going in for a perm, so your frizzes get converted
into glossy curls. If you long for straight hair, you could also opt for
a straightening treatment, though a perm is less harsh than chemical straightening.
Whether you decide to perm or straighten your hair, you cannot afford
to neglect it after the treatment as it could get damaged. But as long
as you take care of your hair, oil it regularly, wash it gently and follow
up with a conditioner, there should be no problem even after getting a
chemical treatment done. Similarly, avoid going in for two chemical treatments
together. If you must perm or straighten your hair, do not highlight it
and vice versa.
Minimal Fuss
If you would rather not blowdry or style your hair, but simply want
your frizzes to be manageable, here's what you could do:

Start growing your hair long.

After shampooing and conditioning, apply a few drops of oil to your damp
hair.

Apply a generous amount of gel to your hair.

Brush your hair well, and then plait it.

When dry, open up the plait, and apply a little more gel to the ends of
the hair, to tame any frizzes.
The result? Your hair may not look silky, but it will not be spreading
out in all directions. The 'bushy' effect will be dramatically reduced,
and your hair will look wavy and in control.

She got it done for $300 dollars in Korea, and that is practically the only place where you can straighten it and it will last for a very, very long time, I have thin, pretty, but very frizzy colored blonde hair with bangs that are thick on one side, and thin on the other. Blow drying can fry your hair, taking away it's nutrients, and chemicals can weigh it down, so if you want straight, frizz free hair, chemical straightening is your best bet, ironing it with a straightener will frizz it up, and cause tearing.

Flat irons will make it even more frizzy, so just try different products.

Having you hair thinned with thinning sheers makes it frizzy, but my hair stylist cut my hair by twisting medium sized sections of hair then making little snips all the way down(about 3inches apart). She did this to every section of my hair except in the very front, so i could still pull it back. My hair feels healthier and my scalp can finally breath!!! it's the best thing thats happened to my hair yet!

I found this awesome stuff, it's Infusium 23 leave-in treatment for frizzy and unruly hair, it works really well for me. There is also this stuff that I use made by pantene pro v, it's supposed to volumize and repair styling damage, which also helps with frizz. Recently I also found this really really good shampoo, it prevents split ends and makes hair shiny and also helps moisturize it. I use all three of these things and I have ANSOLUTELY nooo frizz whatsoever, and I used to be known for it!

But recenntly i started wasing my hair with sunsilk (one which is suited for greasy hair, like mine!) it works wonders for your hair, i really recommend it, i could see dramastic improvements within in the first month. i also have a tip for my fellow ppl out there:.....if u want to prevent split ends the solution is that when you wasj you hair, dont brush it when its wet, brush it when its damp to almost dry this is because your has been stripped of its oils after a wash and the last thing it needs is someone tampering with it to put it into an even worse state. hope this handy little tip works!

After two weeks of 6 to 8 such times, ur hair will start to feel different...softer and naturally glowing.now u can increase the shamppo bit more.
if u want loose curls after shower use very little leave in conditioner( most people use too much) and braid it..when dry if u open it will be nice curls...
ask ur doctor and take iron supplement.. if u r low in iron u may have bad hair..
blow drying hair will spoil hair in the long term...i have seen many with very limp hair because of it.

I shampoo and condition once a week, and gently comb through (if you comb too harshly, you add static electricity, making your hair frizzy.) Then, you can use Care Free Curl on the roots and the bottom part of your hair getting rid of the pyramid-like shape. I hope my suggestions help.

Its not the egg yoke. Its the egg white the clear stuff not the yoke. It helps your hair become silky. I tried it and it worked on my hair you just have to do it right. Use 3 egg whites and mix with water then shampoo after that. Now for your Frizzy hair , It means your hair is dry. So do not blow dry your hair and use soft combs. use conditioner once in 2 weeks and take a high protein diet. Finally put warm oil on at least 2 times a week. hope this helps.

Ok so here is what I use that works, Curly~ use Panteen all the way with the Curl formula shampoo and conditioner and they have so many curl products available. Strait ~ I use Panteen Sleek & Smooth conditioner then I put my hair in a bun for 24 hours to let it dry not too frizzy then I Use a Gold Flat Iorn (find it at Sallys or another hair place not at Wal-Mart/target) before I take a section of hair I use TCB oil sheen spray then I straiten the section then I spry it again and comb it strait. With the exception of 90% humidity it works!!! It takes 2hours to do but it works!! good luck.

If you want your hair to be even more healthy make sure you trim your hair every 6 months only like half an inch, and try taking the coldest shower you can that will make your hair shinny and soft. I was shocked by the results my hair was straight and easy to dry/style. washing.
don't shampoo much at all! shampoo is death to curly hair. you can rinse your hair every day if you want, but only use a teeny bit of shampoo at the roots about once per week.
conditioning.
always condition. every day if you can. invest in some deep conditioning and leave on products, they will change your hair drastically with correct use. also, read the directions on your conditioner. if it says leave it in for 5 minutes then rinse, then leave it in for 5 minutes! that's the important part. if you don't want to buy a leave in or other expensive conditioner, you can also just work a little dollop of regular conditioner through your hair and leave that in, too. don't use too much. this will give you a much less frizzy result.
drying.
avoid blow drying, straightening, and heat products of any kind. they are damaging to any hair type and are just plain bad news for the curlies out there. air drying is your friend. usually, i shower before bed and let my hair dry while i sleep. this makes it less poofy in the morning when it's dry.
styling.
if your hair is wavy to curly, you can use a curling iron and just curl a few strands to ringlets (about 5 or 6 around your whole head) to make your look more controlled. otherwise, a little bit of gel should keep your hair looking nice.
product info.
i classify brands and products into four groups. (1) cheap. this includes suave, garnier fructis, white rain, etc. they cost $3 or less. these products do not have your best intrests at heart, but they don't cost much. no matter what it says on the bottle, these aren't going to change your hair much at all. (2) fair. these include pantene, john frieda, etc. you can buy them in stores or wherever, and they usually cost anywhere from $4 to $20 per bottle, usually closer to the $4 range. if you use them correctly, these products will change your hair some, but not anything drastic. they're a good option for those of us who would like healthier hair at a low cost. this category includes some great leave in conditioners. (3) salon quality. these include anything you buy at a salon, like bed head, paul mitchell, nolita, etc. they usually cost upwards of $15 per bottle, but are definitely worth it. this is what you should be using when you're contemplating shaving your head some days. you can only buy these in salons, and the hair stylist there will advise you on how to use it, and which product is right for you. (4) salon treatments. this isn't a bottle of something you take home, but something you pay $20 to $100 for that the stylist treats your hair with in a salon. moisture intensive treatments, perms, and chemical straightening procedures fall into this category. i definitely don't recommend perming or straightening, because they'll make your hair less healthy. however, moisture treatments are GREAT! this is where you should start with reforming your hair. you'll walk out of the salon with a whole new head of hair. these are the most expensive, but are so worth it.

Comments: here are some tips. i have curly frizzy hair myself, but i have discovered some things that help tame your curls:
dont brush it, just detangle it with your fingers in the shower, it helps reduce frizz. if you dont want to do that get a wide tooth pick to do the job.
dont use shampoo! it damages your hair. if you put soap in a sponge, it gets all foamy and takes a long time to get all the soap out. thats what it does to your hair! its really bad. so just use conditioner in the shower, it works the same way. dont be afraid to use a lot!
put leave in conditioner into your hair.
after a shower put mousse or gel into your hair to get a shape.. it also gets some of the frizz away!
putting it up into pony tails with rubber bands makes the top of your hair all frizzy which looks bad. if you have to put it up use big clips or something...
thats about it.. im only 13 and i have suffered long enough! i have a habit of putting my hair up which stretches the curls and makes it frizzy, and im kind of scared to go to school and have people make fun of me...

Comments: Hello everyone. I have recently been really trying (after giving up years ago) to find something to defrizz my hair. I have hair type 2c which is wavy coarse and it's long. It's not thick, but it looks thick because each strand is .... puffy frizzy. Everybody says you first need a good cut. Well, I had to do this myself because everytime I went to a salon... I didn't like it. I mean, it looks so different when it's wet and brushed out then after it's dry and curled up. So I cut it dry and unbrushed. I cut it in three layers (basicly) by putting it in a pony tail, cut grab next section, cut grab top section , cut. After I layered it, my headaches from pulling my hair back have diminished. I have been using Pantene Hydrating Curls shampoo conditioner and gel. I think the shampoo and conditioner are good. The gel isn't that great but at least it doesn't flake like every other gel I've used lately seems to. After researching I found out about FX Silk Drops. It's really good for smoothing and really inexpensive ($5 top at most drug stores). For me, it doesn't do the whole job though. So, I've started putting Extra Virgin Olive Oil in my hair in addition. I think this is the breakthrough I've been looking for. I'll be experimenting further on the best way to use it and will post an update. But it does seem to really smooth and almost totally alter my hair. I am planning on getting some essential oils (like lavendar & teatree) and possibly jojoba oil as a carrier (base) oil. I'll let you all know how it goes. But I thought I'd post my progress thus far because I do think it is pretty substantial. God Bless Us Frizzy Hairs!

Comments: OK, I have decided to update my post. I am still waiting to receive my jojoba oil and haven't tried essential oils yet. HOWEVER, I felt it was important to note that after about 1.5 weeks (3 washes)... the olive oil has TOTALLY FIXED MY FRIZZY HAIR and turned it into smooth shiny well defined curly hair! I am absolutely amazed at the difference. I don't even think shampoo or conditioner matter much either... it's all about the olive oil! OK, this is what I do: I wash and condition (with the same pantene hydrating curls) making sure to rinse the conditioner out with cold water. I get out and put a towel on my head for a few minutes to absorb excess water. Then I go to the kitchen and pour a small palmfull of olive oil, rub my hands together and apply like gel or any other product... making sure to get the ends really well. That is IT. I'm done. The first two washes, I did use a little gel and reapplied the olive oil every day I didn't wash. But every wash and application has improved my hair to where I don't even need as much. And I don't use gel anymore! Everybody tells you to be careful not to use much oil... but when your hair has none to begin with.... go ahead. Don't spend money for expensive hair products when you can just use good old olive oil and actually get results! YAY for olive oil! And that's my 2 cents.

Comments: hey guys...probably the best thing you can do for your hair is to LEAVE IT ALONE! all the curling and straightening and dying and perming is KILLING your hair!!! leave it alone, let it air dry, use a leave in conditioner, and a boar bristle brush (as it is easier on your hair) and use simpler styles so you can leave it alone for a days time. trust me...high ponytails with a fashionable bump on top are not out of style. dont hairspray...use bobby pins or clips. no heat, no shampooing everyday, no chemicals...just a lot of tlc, if you really want beautiful hair. and store bought defrizzing crap? forget it. it may work for a while, but then in the end, if you ever stop using it, it only dries out the ends of your hair even more! use 12 cup oil warmed, on dry hair, let set for 10 mins, and thouroughly wash out...do this once a week, and then once a week, use 12 cup of warmed mayo...seriously. sounds gross, i know, but if you make these two treatments the only times you wash your hair per week, your hair will be shiny and HEALTHY (with no frizz) in a matter of days.
