Signs that You are Raising a Spoiled Child

Signs that You are Raising a Spoiled Child
Parents should take right action when signs of spoiled behaviour are observed before it is too late. Have a quick look at the common signs exhibited by spoiled children.
There is no denying the fact that your kids are most important for you than anything else on this earth for you and you love them very much. However, sometimes you might express your love through indulgence that may actually spoil your kid. Unfortunately it is difficult for parents to be objective about their kids and so many miss out on the earliest warning signs of a spoilt child. Here are the signs you should look out for.

Frequent Tantrums

A spoilt child is usually used to getting his or her own way all the time. If you are an over indulgent parent who is used to conceding every request of your child then chances are that your kid is not mentally prepared to accept even the smallest disappointment. At every small “NO” or the slightest negative answer your child throws a major fit or a huge tantrum. Intervene at the earliest to stop indulgent behaviour as a spoilt child will definitely grow up to become a spoilt adult.

Display of Selfishness

A child who has been spoilt thoroughly by parents usually has a difficult time in sharing stuff with others. This may include items of personal use like toys and stationary apart from items for common use like the school football or snacks. If friends and teachers keep on complaining about how your child never seems to want to let others use stuff then it is a warning sign of a spoilt child. Sharing things and cooperative teamwork is one of the cornerstones of a healthy personality so make sure that your kid learns these traits soon.

Blatant Disobedience

Rebelling occasionally against authoritative figures like parents, teachers, etc is a common sign of childhood. However, when the rebellion becomes blatant and disrespectful then it is a cause for concern. When your kid is behaving rudely to you or to a teacher or any other figure of authority in public then that is a severe cause of concern and you need to step in and intervene. Never allow your kids to get away with this kind of behaviour as this is a sure sign of a spoilt child.

Manipulative Behaviour

Have you noticed your kid twisting sentences and even situations around to sneakily get his or her way? A spoilt child usually is hell bent on getting the desired object or activity at any cost. And no sort of ethical framework holds a spoilt child back so it is natural to exhibit manipulative behaviour. The issue is that these problems only keep escalating with time and so the signs of manipulation should be checked right at the beginning.

Incessant Demands

It is natural for children to ask for desired objects from their parents. It is even okay for kids to ask for objects which their parents cannot afford because children do not understand the difference between needs and wants. However, when the demands never cease and your child does not understand your reasons of refusal in spite of being explained to, then this is a sure sign of a spoilt child. Children who keep on making incessant demands are probably used to having every wish fulfilled. If you are a parent who recognises these signs in your kid then the time to intervene and stop this behaviour is now!!
Child psychiatrists say that the display of responsible love of a parent towards children is never complete without a healthy dose of discipline. The true duty of a parent is to build up the ethical framework of a child and explain the difference between right and wrong. If you can recognise the signs of a spoilt child in your kid then you should do your best to intervene and guide your child back on the path to a healthy happy personality.

What are the signs that a child is spoiled? How to deal with spoiled children? What are the ways to correct the behaviour of spoiled children? Discuss here.

Spoiled behaviour should be checked immediately otherwise it can be very difficult to correct the behaviour later on.
