    During pregnancy taking care of health is of utmost importance. Maternal health and baby health are co-related. Right from the initial stages of pregnancy, you need to take care of your health by eating healthy and nutritious foods. supplements are also needed and is to be taken if prescribed by the doctor. Right frame of mind is needed for a healthy pregnancy so pregnant women must have relaxation techniques and also regular exercises. Being active is the best way to have a healthy pregnancy.
    Walking, swimming and yoga are best form of fitness during pregnancy. Exercise promotes good hormones so it gives a happy feeling. Music is a great relaxant. Proper sleep is also needed.

    It is extremely important to eat good and healthy food during the pregnancy for good nutrition to the mother as well as the baby. Pregnant women should always maintain healthy eating habits for a healthy pregnancy. The intake of milk, milk products, meat, fruits, vegetables and grains should be increased ensuring a healthy diet. A vitamin folic acid is very important for the development of the baby.

    If you are pregnant and if you or your partner has a family history of certain defects or disease, then there are various screening test available for the detection of any such disease or defects which should be done for the safer side. There are various carrier screening tests done for the couples with a family history of genetic diseases like thalassemia, anemia or cystic fibrosis and many more.

    It is extremely important to be safe and keeping the baby free from all the infection. The pregnant moms should undergo the screening tests for HIV which is optional, but it should be done to diagnose before the virus is transmitted to the virus. The screen test for Hepatitis B, syphilis should be done if you are at high risk so that the vaccinations can be taken on time.

The baby can also have down syndrome and chromosomal abnormalities if the age of the women is more than 35 years. It is advisable to do screening test available to diagnose these abnormalities.
