I have 2 years old twin girls. Is it necessary to get the mundan at all. If yes, then whats the right age for kids for \";mundan\";. Moreover, whats the significance of hair cut, is it medicinally needed or just its a ritual. Please guide me.

Ck Ram Singh replied. Mundan is a solemn religious rite of passage practised by most Hindus irrespective of caste. It is beneficial for the kids - both male and female - to remove their birth hairs, to some extent physically but to a large extent spiritually. But if some Hindu parents do not do it for whatever reason I feel sorry for the kids that they have missed an important and joyful passage of rite at the right age. Personally, I believe that mundan is necessary for kids.

But it is none of Jasmin Hassan's business to say that it is a ritualised abuse. We Hindus do whatever we please. There is no need for a Muslim like Jasmin Hassan to abuse our practices. ash replied. hi,

as everyone says it is a ritual but it must be based on some scintific reasons though we don't know it. but as they as we should not keep birth hair. i will suggest u a mundan. wat's wrong in it. hair grows back n u might get good hair

luv ash Kalyani replied. Mundan is basically a ritual. Believing that it will thicken the hair is a sham. I have a 3 year old daughter and her hair at birth was very thin, but now it is very thick. Consider taking people other than Indians who do not have this ritual and they have beautiful hair too. If you are religious go for it,but if you are worried about thickness etc it is really not worth it.
