My due date is in October this year, and I am very keen to have a normal delivery. But the reputation of doctors in Kolkata is not very good, bengal has the highest rate of C-sec. I have searched all over the internet to find some helpful information on a good gynae in Kolkata who is known for conducting normal deliveries, but in vain. Please help. I am a U.S. citizen having my wife belonging to and staying in kolkata for delivery of our first child. Did a lot of research online, read several forums and personally met several doctors in kolkata in order to find a doctor who is ethical / fair and is not pre-disposed to c - section. My wife is having mild blood pressure issue also, which was an easy excuse for doctors to force for c - section. Under such circumstances, we got lucky to find Dr. Chandrima Dasgupta, who has practised for 18 years in UK and is associated with Medica and next door AMRI hospital. She has very impressive credentials, specializes in high risk pregnancy, is very down to earth, ethical and fair and a nice human being, who respects her patients' wish and does not seem to be after money. Another differentiating factor with her is that she is pretty much in the same locality (Mukundpur EM Bypass) every day and does not have issue of planning multiple trips across the city to various hospitals. Wished all doctors were like her. In our case, normal vaginal delivery with epidural is planned. My wife's B.P. is under control. She is due on 10/12/15. I will post an update on final outcome. She screwed the life of my wife.....My wife was pretty normal throughout the pregnancy period. Never there was any complication nor there was any major problem. We were consulting a gyna at Mumbai who was pretty satisfied with the performance during the entire pregnancy period and was quite confident of having a normal delivery. We planned to have the delivery at Kolkata so that entire family can enjoy the moment. We were consulting Urmila Chaudhary at Kolkata. She never indicated for any kind of complication. Even on the D Day when my wife started having a pain she did not even wait for 6 hours. She immediately go for the C Section and said I cannot take the risk and the later on the reason given was pretty standard that if slight delay was made the kid would have done the laterine inside the mother stomach. The mother carried the kid for 9 months in her stomach and all these times he must have pee and poo inside the stomach when she never faced the problem. On the pen ultimate night I also asked the hospital guys and the doctor for the eqidural injection for painless delivery, which she said that she has the facility and will go for it. But on the D Day she said that the hospital does not have the same and there is no need for such injection because she is using the anesthesia on the spine. Even after insisting she did not go for a normal delivery. All because of C Section money for herself and for the hospital she screwed the normal life of my wife. My wife is continuously facing the gastric problem now. Even I think she is facing the risk of having stone in here stomach.
