i will be completing 34 weeks now.I recently changed my doc and she feels that my uterus is\";under mild distress\"; i dont know what that means.she prescribed \";duvadilan\"; and because my bp fell to 90/60 (normal- 110/70) she discontinued with it .

she has also told to do thyroid test and my TSh has com 6.45 and free t4 is 0.8.So she is arrangiing for some other doctor to see me( i dont know the name for the thyroid related doctor)

My sis says prob its normal for these levels to fluctuate during pregnancy, also no one in our family has been a patient of thyroid.

WEll i am really worried now coz of both these situations more so now that i am entering the 35th week.

could you please help me in understanding this situation and whether i need to be concerned.

Thyroid cases are rare in pregnancy. Not necessarily they pose any threat but better to be safe and thus visit to thyroid specialist. They are like one in 1000. They are not serious as you may be imagining. In early stages of pregnancy they can pose a threat of miscarriage and before 28 weeks they can cause still birth. But not after 33 weeks as Dr. can get a close look at baby and choose to deliever earlier than EDD, if needed.

I am a little surprised that this problem is noticed at this stage of pregnancy. But if this is emerged now then most likely won't pose any trouble to you and your baby. Your baby is likely be fine in your womb without noticing all of these hormonal things. Your baby is producing his/her thyroid hormone from week 12 itself.


Your levels of t4 are in the range while T3 is little above the limit. This may mean you needed to have some Iodine intake, there are medications available and if taken in limit it's possible to overcome.

A good side is this you are finished 34 weeks and if monitored close for two more weeks baby can be brought in the world by Induction or C-section. This is not a terribly early to go for labor. Do not stress yourself. If the levels continue to increase then your Dr. may want to choose delivery as an option.

Your BP seems on lower range. 90 is not too low but below 90 is low. So I think you are doing excellent so far. If possible your Dr. should ask an ultrasound at this stage to see baby position and ask for BioPhysical Profile. This is going to let you cool a lot when you hear all is fine with baby.
