Hi all,

I have a question regarding cooking in micro oven..
I prepare rice in microven...
Now a days I am taking lunch box to office...
I get up early in the morning..and prepare some sabji and rice...
As preparing rice in cooker takes lot of time...I make rice in microven...

Does any one know...is it safe to prepare rice in micro oven??

i agree with ira. microwave cooking is not harmful, but leaking microwaves cud be harmful. just take care that when ever u start the microwave, dont stand directly in front of it. if possible, move out of the kitchen.

and while cooking, cover the container with a lid and leave just a small vent for the steam to escape.

but for reheating leftovers (esp from the fridge), dont use the microwave if possible. heat it on the gas instead. i read somewhere that this is much better.

hi ramya..
i also read somewhere that the microwaves which might leak from the microwave oven are harmful for you...
but then i also read... that you cannot completely manage without a m/w if you are used to it.... so it' s not so harmful... just take care that you do not wait around the microwave to zap ur baby with microwaves....
just put whatever u need heated or cooked into the microwave and move away.... that way it' s no harm....
i also cook rice in the microwave... much more easier... and much less messier...
i even heat food in the microwave every evening....
i am sure.. as long as you take care to stay away from the waves... you' ll be fine...
