Good day to all mommies-to-be,

I was going thru the old topics and found one which was shared by rakhi....jus copying and pasting the same with a few more inputs on weight gain...

Weeks Weight gain (Pounds) Weight gain (kgs)

0-10 weeks No weight gain No weight gain
10-14 weeks 3-4 pounds 1.5 kg
14-20 weeks 4-6 pounds 2.5 kgs
20-30 weeks 10-12 pounds 4.5 kgs
30-36 weeks 6 pounds 2.7 kg
36-38 weeks 2 pounds 1.0 kg
38-40 weeks Almost no weight gain Almost no weight gain

Total 25-30 pounds* 12-14 kg

* You have a buffer of gaining 5 pounds either in the first few weeks or in the last few weeks.

Weight gained during your pregnancy isn’t something you should take lightly. If you gain too much or too little you are going to harm yourself and your baby. The pounds you need to add all depends on your weight status when you become pregnant.

Recommended weight gain guideline when pregnant:

You weighed normal before pregnancy:
Add 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy.

You were overweight before pregnancy:
Add 15 to 25 pounds during pregnancy.

You were underweight before pregnancy:
Add 28 to 40 pounds during pregnancy (again depending on your pre-pregnancy weight).

You have a multiple pregnancy (twins, triplets or more):
Check with your doctor. You will need to gain more weight during pregnancy depending on the number of babies you are carrying.
