this is santhi from oct board.i just want to know is there anybody decided to save babies cord blood.i heard saving cord blood helps our babies and other family members in future.let me know if any body decided to save.

First of all congrats on ur preg.
Good to hear that U were considering storing the cord blood. Initially me n my hubby were also thinking on doing so, infact we had even decided to go with aparticular company. But then thought of talking to our docs.
BOth my OB/Gyn and the pediatrician I selected for my baby didnt seem to show any bent towards the same.
Infact this is what my pediatrician said...he said the technology isnt mature that much until now. Secondly the cord blood cells stored r originally frm my body and so is my baby's blood. So if my baby develops any malfunction at a later time, the roots of the baby's blood and the cord blood r same so even if its replaced possibility might be that it cud reappear. And since cord blood can be used only once it may not be of use. He said that cord blood may prove useful to non-related people.
And then as all doctors here here its all ur choice...so for now we have decided not to go forward with it...Rest may be change our minds later...U never know.
