Hi Sreenivas,We have not heard about your decision and start of implementation if so decided.I am narrating my recent visit to Gokarna to perform rudrabhishekha pooja during my visit and audit work at Ankola.I decided to perform pooja at Gokarn after teertha snana. As I preferred to do snana after getting tonsure I went near the barber who was aged about 65-70or above with specton the eye there. He asked to sit and started straightway to rinse my hair with water which was about 3 to 4 inch long.He opned cream-tube and brush but I told him not required. He opened blade packet and put half blade in the razor and started slowly to jerk it from backside top to nape. It is a nice experience and he done the headshave with enquiring our village,work,etc He done his job 10 minutes time. Then I took the holy bath and went for pooja and afterwards attended my Bank' s audit work.It does not matter at all for our workno one asked me about tonsured head. Please therefore you also decide get the work started in this shravana month which is auspicious for poojas.Pl inform

Hallo Srinivas,If you like to help your grandpa and father for poojas, archanas, homas,etc it is necessryto have headshaven with shikha at top as you will have the situation to advise the karta of such poojas,homas etc or in mundan ceremony, thread ceremony to have their head cleanly shaved. It will become customary after some 3-4 months for all in the office neighbours and relatives and no one do not ask anything. In case meetings,seminars etc in the office you may use the cap covered for your head. I hope once you start shaving with razor you will definitely like that you will pefer the same. For myself I am an auditor with chartered accountants (with degree MCom LLB(special),CAIIB)and going for auit work without hesitation with razorshaved head with shaving done within 2 months everytime. Fo health purpose also it is better for cold and heat control with use of coconut oil and lemon juice to the bare head. Razhor shaving experience though we think let me have once and experience, we will definitely go for such shave everytime. In your house as your grandpa and father are in the same line be decisive and avoid confusion. Please inform your experience

DO NOT WORRY FOR SPORTING COMPLETE HEAD SHAVE & SHIKHA (IN MARATHI IT IS CALLED SHENDI). SINCE YOU WOULD PERFORMING RELIGIOUS ACTS, LIKE POOJA,ARCHANA, POORNAHOOTI, ETC., HENCE IT IS MUST.
I MYSELF A MAHARASHTRIAN BRAHMIN, I MYSELF A PROFESSIONAL, RENDERING MY SERVICES TO CORPORATE CLIENTS, SPORTING SHIKHA & GHERA (ROUND SHAPE SMALL TUFF AROUN SHIKHA) AND CLEANLY SHAVEN HEAD WITHOUT OVERING MY HEAD FOR PAST 12 YEARS TO AND GETTING RAZOR SHAVE ALTERNATE MONTH.
I HOPE YOUR WIFE TOO WOULD BE SPIRITUAL MIND, YOU HAVE NOT MENTIONED ABOUT THE SAME.
ANYWAY GO AHEAD AND JOIN HANDS WITH YOUR GRANDPPA & FATHER. INIIALLY FOR SOME DAYS YOU MAY FEEL SOME THING DIFFERENT AND TO YOUR COLLEGUES, BUT SLOWLY IT WOULD BE CUSTOMISED AS LIKE MINE.

good to hear that you find conclusion for your problem. it is nice when your friends and family respect your decision and support you in every way. in my house no one does headshave as it is not a ritual in our family or cast. but as a brahmin i know about all the rituals which we should follow but mine is no so stick to ritual family and not even orthodox so i have never experienced such situations. but good to see you are happy with your decision.

Please advise whether you are going to work also with your kudumi and shaved head.Are you using cap while going to work? I am also getting headshave in usual time with kudumi left for 6-8 inches long inspite of my wife's objection here and there.Whatever may be it is better to go with once accustomed tonsure.Thanks for giving information.

Hi Sreenivasaji,It is happy to note for the last one year you are getting razhor headshave with kudumi.I think it may be around 8-10 inch long.My family also came from traditional religious one and I am also telling my husband to have headshave everytime with kudumi left as it is.However even thoug he is 55 years old since last year he is getting headshave here and there and in between some times he will get cropcut.I am also glad that you and your wife are happy with your tonsure every week/fortnight. Last Sunday he had agreed for tonsure after lot of persuation. Pl let me know is there any shastra to continue with kudumi and tonsure everytime if it is spotted once.If so I will quote that to my husband and my persuation everytime may be over.Thanks

A shaven head with a kudumi is one of our traditional styles. Who are government officials or foreigners for that matter to question it?
As for foreigners, I have seen many of them with punk hair styles and ear hangings in one ear. When that is their way, how can they object to our traditional hair style?
Recently I was about to board a plane. Another young man with a shaven head, shikha, nama and akshata was getting security check done. He was among a group of software professionals.
It is your confidence which matters. Just do not bother as to anybody´ s comments. If sikhs can wear uncut hair and turban, muslims can wear a bald head and a flowing beard with no mustache, why do you feel nervous in wearing a shikha in front of govt officials or foreigners? Please, please come out of this inferiority complex, wear the shikha proudly and go about your job with happiness and elan.
