Sunita replied. Hi,
My baby is over one year. He's fine healthwise. I read your question, I dont think you have to follow a rigid timetable. Meet your baby's needs according to her taste and nutrition and depending on when she demands food. Give only yellow part of egg till your baby is one year, it is rich in protein, introduce the white part of egg after first bday.
Good Luck
Hetal replied. By 9-12 months, some babies will fit into the family eating schedule eating table foods and possibly some baby foods.
your 10month old should be taking the below :
bm or formula : 3-4 feedings on demand or 24-32 ounces total per day
Infant cereal 4-6 tablespoons,,in grains have been started, 4tablespoons of boiled rolled oats or cracket wheat per serving.
Infant juice 4 ounces or cup (from cup only)
Fruits 6-8 tablespoons
Vegetables 6-8 tablespoons
Meat 4-6 tablespoons
now some other tips :
Grain Products : Offer infant cereal until one year of age. If refused, mix in with other foods in small amounts.
Grain products make good finger foods: crackers, dry cereals, bread, noodles, mashed rice, soft tortilla pieces, toast, pieces of roti, paratha,pastas..
No need to add sugar or syrups to cereal, etc.however, if your baby is fine with watever spices you have introduced, nothing wrong in continuing the same.
Meat : Offer pureed or finely chopped lean meat, poultry, cooked egg yolk, cheese, yogurt, or mashed beans or peas.Limit use of fried meats, gravies, and sauces
Avoid use of too many processed meats such as hot dogs, luncheon meats, bacon and sausage. They are high in fat and salt and can cause choking.
Fruits and Vegetables : Plain fruits and vegetables are best. No need to add salt, sugar, syrups, oil, butter or other fats or seasonings. The child learns to enjoy the flavor without these.Never add honey to your baby's foods it can contain botulism spores that can make the baby sick.
Be sure to remove seeds and pits of all the foods you offer.
Juices : Offer 100% juices, adult or infant.Offer juice in a cup, not bottle.
Avoid offering soda (pop), fruit punches, aides and drinks, gelatin, water, coffee, or tea.
Be aware of juice serving size for age. Too much juice can affect your baby's appetite and prevent your baby from eating enough other foods.also make sure your baby is comfortable with 100% juice, because 100% juice is not recommended just like grains before 1 year, but often many cultures and communities start offering them at 10months onwards..so check on each food for its reactions..if 100% juice is not a good for your baby, give diluted one,,1:1water or more 1:2 water, depending on how your baby reacts to it and accepts it.
by the time your baby 11months-12months, your all the serving sizes will reach to 8tablespoons of fruits, vegetables & meat..and the serving of juice,bm/formula and cereal remains same.
if you are not good in keeping measurements,,at 10months, babies eat 0.75% of 1/4 of per serving of what you eat..cut one roti in 1/4th and tear off the 25% and give that 75% of that 1/4th :))..by 1 year/12months,and some babies at 11months onwards have shown proportionate size of their serving upto 1/4th of perserving of an adult !!
include more vegies, fruits in your baby diet, include lentils/dals and multigrain as well whole grain options..try to avoid wheat products, but if your baby seems to be doing ok, then nothing to worry..just remember onething that wheat is heavy and if your baby is having one serving of it,it means he might no eat much after that,,and its not expected as well..so dont force him to complete what he was supposed to eat as per the table above ! this is a general guideline to ensure that your baby gets minimum of the range and is eating the least qty...however there have been babies with smaller or bigger apetites and servings,,so you decide about it.
your baby should not feel hungry after his meals and should be able to feel comfortable after his meals.
your diet plan looks ok to mean as far as timings are concerned,,,
at 9months, onwards, its a good time to introdice egg yolks and yogurt,,its excellent source of proteins and calcium.
also, if i were you, personally i would like to avoid giving dates, and add in other frutis and vegies,,however, if you r giving it and your baby seems to be accepting other foods as well with this diet, than its not a matter of concern.
rest all is great,,good luck.
