your baby is doing well.he needs a lil boost from you. hold his hands and talk to him, teach him to take steps.
buying walker might not b a good idea, you are making your baby dependent on something for walking instead of trusting his own strength to hold his body on his own legs.also, aap (american academy of pediatrics) has shown surveys that using walker, many babies have shown weak joint and muscle tone.m sure you want to avoid being one of them.
hold his hands, teach him to take steps, your baby has emerging skils,,he will learn in 15 days to take his first steps. give him time to do that,,do this often after meals so that he has a good activities,,
for pictures,,go for big pictures books and go muscial as wel.baby at 8month are more interested in music than sitting and hearing wat you are saying...there are wonderful baby music videos, cds available,,babyeinstein, old mcdonald is a the best one,,and also there are other books that have inbuilt music along with reading..babbies are attracted to music and njoy cruising around with the tunes...so take full advantage of this cruising age,,,this will also help them develop balancing skills and learning skills when they will watch you dancing or clapping or waving your hands and such other skills..
also, babies need to get habituated to reading,,read things with interest, with low and high tones,,some added words like tadaaa, ding ding and such funny sounds,,which will make them cruise towards you, when you are sitting and reading,,one day they might even ask you to read that book ! but dont expect that in days,,babies in cruising stage, dont like to sit,and its natural ! you will b one of those lucky moms, if your baby is sitting at peace and listening to you :))
let him njoy cruising around you nd keep reading it,,the words do fall in his ears even though he is not around you,,which is again a learning time for him.
also, 8months onwards, babies are ready for sign language,,great books are available..they have big picture,,teach your baby,,with fun and make a fun time, a learning time of expressing themselves..its a alot of time they wil start speaking,,so until then, if they are learning to express by sign language,,,good for you.
Good luck,njoy.

Your baby is doing perfectly well.. I don't think you need to buy your baby a walker.. He is doig just great.

What books do you read to your son?? Try reading book with big pictures and not much text.

I have a few Bruno and Pepper books- check whether you get them too. My 7 1/2 mth old son loves these books.

My baby loves these books too.. however i wish we had them in thick plastic.. My son is learning to tear them and eat them too :D

And Gayathri - your baby is doing perfectly well.. I am not sure what is it that you think your baby is not doing enough or well for a 8 mth old.

dont get afraid and dont loose hopes, your son is absolutely fine, and give him the proper tuition and avoid more playing periods of his, and you should teach him at home when you will get free time.... - praglabh [View Message]
