Due Date Club December 2006:Is Car driving safe?

Hi everybody,
Iam in my 7th month as most of u may be. Actually the road from my home to office, about a stretch of 2 kms is really very bad, lots of pot holes etc. howmuch ever i try, i just cant avoid them. Iam little worried if this would affect the baby from 8th month onwards? Since people say that in 8th month travelling should be avoided. Is car driving safe at later stages of pregnancy? I even thought of keeping a driver for a month or two, but dont know whether this would solve the problem. Can any1 suggest me sumthing?

Thanks,
Puneeta.

Hi Puneeta,

I am also in my seventh month and I drive around 25 kms oneway to the office. the road to my office is a mixture of bad roads and some good streches.

Till now I was doing fine but now It is ecoming a little stressful to drive and also reverse gears and all are problems.

I have already hired a driver for 3 months !!! Its better if you also do the same.

All the best and love to your little one.

Cheers,

Leena

Hi Puneeta,

i also drive ~20 miles one way everyday to work , but guess the difference is the roads are not so bad and my drive is pretty smooth, iw as more concerned abt the duration of my drive as it takes me ~40 minutes one way ... i ask my doc in my last visit and she did not seem to be too concerned ...here , i have also seen my friends/colleagues drive till the last day and they seem to eb fine ...

so i guess the decision is more on how you feel like and if you are upto it .... als ask your gyn abt it, bcoz potholes really does not sound lie a good thing ...

one more thing my firend said was it seems she used to get contractions when she used ot drive and that is not good .... so just be aware of the signals your body is giving you and if in doubt, try to avoid driving ....

As far as having a driver ,that sounds like a better option , but do ask your gyn abt it ...

take care,
-P
