i assume u as dermat doc.so can i discuss my problem?.iam 6 months pregnant.i want to know if some food we consume can cause any skin discoloration/pigmentation in foetus.i consume lot of fruits ,citrus type also gooseberry.does it cause white pigmentation(patches) to foetus.also eggs are consumed by me lot (doc asked me to inc protein nad go easy on carbos)do they have any advserse effect on foetus?ya it helps in baby' s growth in nicz way,other than that any bad effects
i dont have obessession for seeing oh-so fair n pink baby,but a healthy one.my aunt told me that excess iron in food leads to dark-bronze(pigmented baby skin)& also baby will be underweight (any scientific basis on that?)
since preg my skin is dry as a cracker and i also hav itching,not intense.is this hormonal problem?bcoz i always had flaweless skin.

can u also tell me is hair remover creams allowed during prego.i use nair cream in pubic area.i hav used it twice in pregnancy.iam almost 7months prego now.the leaflet in the tube tells me there is no plm.some where else too this opinion was given.but there so may confusing answers for this so.pls tell wat is correct ?iam desperate. verne replied. What Mel has said, is almost correct, but has a few flaws as well.
Dont eat too many eggs, keep them moderate, you use legumes, dals and stuff for protein. Nothing you eat will have any effect on the colour of the fetus, unless your fetus has some congenital disorder. Dont take excess iron either, it can become toxic after a certain dosage. Make you sure you eat all vitamins, and take multivitamin supplements for sure.
You can use a moisturiser for your dry skin, and yes its a hormonal problem.
Have you ever had problems during previous pregnancies? Have you had any other diseases? any history of congenital diseases in your family?
Make sure you get no kind of infection during your pregnancy.
Iron is a must, but dont overdose on it. And No, its not needed for his brain or muscle development, its needed for the ENTIRE body.

I took iron tablets throughout my pregnancy and also ate iron-rich food (green veg, meat, chicken etc). And my baby is fair... he is slightly fairer than me and my husband. If you do not get enough iron, it can lead to problems for you and baby. During pregnancy your blood increases and the extra iron is needed to supply oxygen and other vital nutrients to the baby, and for his proper brain and muscle development. You can eat fruit, eggs etc. Only thing is that make sure that all food is cooked thoroughly. Eggs should be completely cooked or it can lead to infection. Non-veg food and sprouted beans should also be cooked thoroughly. Your dry skin may be because of hormonal changes in pregnancy. Apply a good face cream and body lotion at night before you sleep.
