Hair Care:Is it necessary??
2013-08-09
Name: Ayush Shankar

Hi!
I' m having a 2yr 11month daughter. Her hair is very soft and curly hair. So far we have never cut her hair but my mom says that it is mandatory for a girl to get her headshaved in a religious place at least once in a life time. More over she wants to shave our daughters head many more times so as to promote better hair growth. Is it true that hair grows better and thicker after headshave?
Please comment and help us out.. neither me and nor my wife are much interested in shaving her head but if it is good for our daughter then we are ready to proceed, please advice us and help us out.

Ayush i think you should not worry and panic in this situation as this is a good thing to happen and you must do it.According to me the hair which is grown after the first head shave of a child is much good.

Hi Ayush please do not worry and get your daughters head shaved fully, as its really good and it will have a good impact on it as the new growth will be very thick and proper.

Hi there its a common thing followed by Indians and i must say its very beneficial for the child, as the hair should be shaved once and will be very beneficial for the growth of the child.

yes it is good when u shave ur head it grows more thick and clean. actually scientific reason for the head shave of the baby is these are the hair are since it is in a mother's womb so it is dirty so when u get a head shave of the baby it will be get clean and new hair will be thick and strong.

Your daughter is very young. There should be no problem in her going around with a shaved head for a few months. So go ahead and follow your mom' s advice.
In fact, her scalp skin will become more healthy if her head is shaved once in a while - say once or twice a year till she turns 10 years old. Till then you can keep her head a short boycut generally and shaved in summers. After 10 years allow it to grow full length. At 15 she will have very long, dense and healthy hair.

Mam...plizz don´ t take it in the wrong way..i really din´ t mean to offend you. Just that my wife wont agree to the idea. I will try to convince her but don´ t know will she agree or not.
We are gonna have a tough time to get her head shave done even once, she loves her hair and i really don´ t know how we are going to control her through the entire process.

Well, you have misunderstood me. There is no need to keep her bald continuously till she is 10. All I said was that you could keep her head a boycut (which now-a-days many do) till she is 10 and shave her head during summer holidays. If you do not want that no problem. You can shave her head just twice or thrice now (with a gap of about 3 months in between) and forget about cutting her hair at all - if that is how you wish. After all she is your daughter.

Do u really think that we should shave a girl till she is 10 yrs old. I agree that it will help her when she is 15 but don´ t you think that it will be hard for her to be the only bald girl in the class up to then. Moreover it will be tough to convince her to undergo head shave till that age.
Anyways, i really thank you for your concern, please pray for our little princess.May gob bless you.

Since your daughter is only around 3 years old it should not be a problem at all. Get her tonsured every summer for around 2-3 times until she is 5-7 years old, that will help her grow good hair later in her life.. :)

I guess it will be ok to shave her head 2 times or maybe 3 times until she is 5 yrs old, but i don´ t think that we should keep her head bald after she is 5.. i will consult with my wife and decide on the future course of action soon..
