Health Concerns:Any way to reduce Fibroid?

Hi, I am 28 weeks pregnant and have a anterior wall intramural fibroid which measured 3.6 * 4.1 cms when
the GA was 6 to 7 weeks and GS was 2.2 cms. Pls tell me what i should expect, if there is a solution to reduce the fibroid, any precautions to be taken like anti abortion tablets? Also does Erythromicin do anything to help in this? Is my baby getting good nutrition in the light that the fibroid also is? Will the baby be as healthy as it should be?

Hi,

I just wanted to share with you the fact that fibroids can dissolve by themselves. I had one that threatened the life of my baby, thankfully my son was born and all was OK but afterwards I set about sorting the problem out. It is a bit too long to explain here I have put my story on fibroidsinfo com so if you are interested please take a look. I have no wish to spam or break rules but this is my own genuine story.
with love,
Gillian

Hi Cruise and Aashi,
Fibroids are a kind of tumors(don't get scared, it's just a growth, not a cancerous one), that grow in the uterine muscles, when one gets older - 30s, 40s. Normally it will be small in the beginning and will not be even seen by an ultra sound scan of the uterus. It starts growing with the pregnancy, as the estrogen levels start increasing during preg. Also when the blood supply to the uterus and it's muscles increase during pregnancy, that will also leads to the increase in size of the growth.
Good news is, there is nothing to worry so much, as it will not affect your baby now, and will go away by itself, or shrink, once the delivery of your baby is over. One of my friends had this when she was preg with her second baby. Nothing was wrong with the baby, and the baby was born perfect, and she is also OK now.

May be in later ages, it may or may not come back. The treatment for that is a simple surgery which removes only the growth or if it's a bigger one, hysterectomy. But here doctors don't do a hysterectomy in USA for that unless it's really big and problematic. But in India, they do it a lot, even if the growth is small. Any way forget about all those surgery etc, as they mostly don't do it during the pregnancy.
Anyway, don't strain too much physically, and worry about it, enjoy the time,

take care,
semo.

Hi,

I too was informed in my previous ultrasound (18th week) that I have a fibroid. Got us very worried as the doctor said if it increases he may have to surgically remove it during pregnancy. Also I had read somewhere that trips to the bathroom reduce in the second trimester but I have no such luck. I think it might have something to do with the fibroid. Would really appreciate if anyone has information on fibroids.
