this is my first pregnancy ( though had to have a mtp before due to personal reasons). i am in my 33rd week. but my doctor though is really good and experienced and known in gurgaon but she does mostly C- section. i am in favour of normal delivery. how do i go about it. till now everything is normal. should i change my doctor now? or should i have faith and go by whatever she says.?

congrats u will have ur bundle of joy in few weeks.but as far as c section is concerned today's docs do it more for money & 2 save time rather than for mother's or baby's safety.everybody says normal is better but i had c-section in jan2005.i don't face any problems like holding baby or breastfeeding him i m breastfeeding him frm the 1st day itself &started walking second day though sometimes stitches do pains but its bearable.so i want u not to get worried as u are saying everything is normal but if ur doc is famous for c section u better see if there is someone who do c section only when required .best of luck don't worry as it affects ur baby .

Hi Ritika,

Cud u please tell me who is ur Gynec. I am too expecting and do not like the fact that docs take patients as subject. As far as i knw ..u shud hv a c section either coz u hv a breech baby or coz ur cervix will not dilate. I wud suggest that u please ask her the reason and take a second opinion. I knw it can be hard at this time but why not.

First of all congrats on your pregnancy. You should not agree to a c-sec just because the dr. wants it! Did she give a reason? c-sec is only warranted if the mother's or baby's life is in danger. You yourself have mentioned that you favor a normal delivery. Please switch dr's if you have to. Normal delivery is the best and the body heals faster that way. I had a c-sec in dec 2004 beause of failed induction. The recovery after c-section is horrible, you cannot even hold your baby for some days till the stitches heal and forget about breastfeeding. Someone will have to help you get up from the bed, chair etc. And who wants to be cut open for no reason. If once you have c-section the dr's favor c-section every time for future pregnancies.
Do some research and think about it.
Best of luck.

been there and hating it.

RE:C-Section
C-sections are planned when the mother wishes to escape the labor pain or in emergencies like if the cord is entangled around the baby's neck and the baby's life is at risk. But i think natural delivery is always a better option.... - Neeta [View Message]
