Subject:  some tips

my travel to india or out of town will include -
1.if ne formula,a good stock of formula.
2.pedialyte - if m staying in US. so that in case ne emergencies of loose motions due to season change or change in weather occurs or ne water change occurs, my baby can remain hydrated until i reach my dr.one small pack of pedialyte will also lie in my cabin bag.
3. a copy of medical record right from birth, request for a copy saying you are travelling abroad and need details. also take vaccination records and all the emergency phone numbers of ne helpline provided by your health care provider and all the imp documnets like baby visa,passport..all these imp things in cabin bag,,,in case you end up in situation where your luggage reaches late or gets misplaced
4.OTC medcines, like infant tylnol, infant motrin, mylicon, teething tablets or orajel,ne other prescribed medcine, if given by your dr & instructed as needed, ne specific vaccine name or dosage that your baby has to be given,if travelling to ne remote areas or sick zone.ask your dr about ne other medicine that he thinks you might be able to use in emergency before you reach nearest dr..like some other medcines for cold, allergies if ne,high fever or ne common prescribed antibiotic.
5. a pack of alcohol wipes to prevent infection with ne open wound or injuries. a tube of neosporin, 100% petroleum jelly/vaselline,and ne anti rash ointment by your dr.
6. all bath stuffs for baby, that can last upto 1 week atleast so that you dont have to run to buy or hunt for baby products in india.1 mega pack of diapers, that will last upto4-5 days, atleast by then you will be able to find some brand in india..huggies are nicely available in all sizes almost all over india.pampers too in some good stores..
7. gerber foods, if at all your baby is taking,,in major cities in ne good baby stores often these are available nowadays..i would like to take a good stock of mix vegetable gerber and mixed fruit one as in most places not all the fruits/vegies are available in all seasons.
8.during travelling, keep a hot/abit hot than warm/lukewarm water vaccum flask if you are using a formula..generally ordinary temp water is easy to find in flights, so mixing with hot water abit and then putting water will give your baby warm formula.
also put some hot water in your baby food, stir it well and you will not feel the need to ask airhostess to warm food for your baby....
just in case, you never know wat kind of people you will end up to deal with.also, if space allowed, take one more ordinary small vaccum flask of normal temp water, and use it only when you think water that you asked for, has not arrived..or a big bottle of water, of ne good brand is just fine.never buy distilled water.
9..while take off and landing, make sure your baby is either munching something or drinking milk or ne liquid,,to prevent ear dumbness.
10.some good pair of winter wear,if going to cold place in india,,as good ones are hard to find in india, i observed..
11.other than that, take 2 days of food with you, which includes his meals, his snacks in your cabin luggage & water, at the least..i would take upto 3 days of food,so that after reaching in india, i can rest for a day and then start his food. try the wonderful vaccuum flask, food flasks they are small and comes in various sizes and can be tugged newhere in cabin bag..non breakable too and your food stays at constant temperature for 12 hours and some guarantee upto 20hours,,depneds on wat you pay for it.
other than that, gerber jars are handy,,if you have them fill in your baby boiled vegies or meals, in that, fruits in that,,or get those tupper ware/glad ware, that doesnt spill or open when bag is pushed hard,,and fill those with your baby food.
food like vegetable roti or aalo paratha, yobaby(a couple of them in food vacccum jar stays upto 12hours),khichadi(dal & rice plus vegies) with ghee in it and a good tadka, dry infant toddler cereal or infant cereal, idlis, dosas, roti, boiled pastas with vegies, boiled vegies, chopped fruits,, all these stays easily upto 12-24hours without ne refrigeration required. also when you are travelling mostly depending on airlines you are travelling, the temperature in airline is sometimes cold for baby so consider that and take atleast 3-4 pairs of clothes that are easy to change without ne changing room.also, this temperature is good enough to prevent your food from spoiling..try giving cooked food or yogurt first to your baby so that you dont have to worry about its storage..also a good small diaper pack with a single pack of wipes is great handy.a small baby blanket(not the flufy ones, look for the nice warm ones and cotton ones that are thin and fit nicely in cabin bag),,throw that in your cabin bag..
let your cabin bag be the biggest one available in store and is allowed as cabin bag,,not a prob,,go for backpacks, they are easy to wear on back and you can carry your child also wearing your bag or pulling your stroller or while pulling your luggage off...take an light weight umbrella stroller, its allowed and will be taken from you once you enter the aircraft,,and will be gven back when you are out,,however cross check about it with your airlines, call their customer care..also, ask if there is space or layaway where you can change your baby diaper or clothes,,,
look for a seat thats near exits,,they are often spacious. take some good toys that noiseless and your baby enjoys it & are easy to pack. nice big pics story books, a couple of em, to keep him busy..and let him wander in aircraft once a while if he wants..
at my recent holidays, i got a small bag for my daughter who was 10-11months at that tme, and was walking very nicely. i tugged that teady bear bag on her back and kept all her tiny toys and light weight books..she enjoyed carrying it as it was something new and all those glittery things in it,,and its belt was nothing but the long hand of teddy bear which was very soft and she loved curdling around it,,so if you can find those things, try if your baby is comfortable, try making him wear that a week before you fly & judge how much he is able to carry with it..if he likes that nothin wrong if he is able to carry on his own toys ! good for you..its allowed for toddlers and not considered as seperate luggage.

sometimes if baby gets fussy, take him away from people sight,,they like attention of crowd and will fuss more,,best place is restroom or layaway areas..show him the mirror, open the tap,,and let him play in your arms with mirror for a while..and when calm bring him out..try to calm him by talks then by ne kind of force...
dont worry, aircraft restrooms are very well maintained & clean.
keep 1 purell hand sanitiser with you, as you will not get time to wash your hands as often as its needed,,its handy and comes with easy pump that can be closed or open upon use.
it tugs newhere// so great to clean your hand,,,also wipes are available in it,great to wipe your spoons.
also, there are nice fragrant diaper disposal bags that comes in small plastic bags,,easy to use and store soiled diapers if you are unable to find a trash or even dispose your leftovers or jars that are used.no need to run to clean them with your baby or throw them..let them stay in your cabin bag, allocate a big plastic bag in one pocket for that only..the scent in those diaper disposal bags is really strong and wont let you smell a dirty soiled diaper.take couple disposable spoons to feed your baby..just in case, you are in a plane where airhostess are not cooperative..i would not like my baby to wait for food until airhostess arrives..
and wearing pant & tshirts is very comfortable, incase your naughty brat spoils your clothes you can change the tshirts at ease..tug one extra for yourself.or wear 2 layers of clothes, remove as needed !

so this is what i have done so far & will continue when i will travel..

a little investments in these tiny lifelong things, has made my life really easy with my naughty daughter.make your journey in the flight with your child as easy as in your reach instead of messing around with the things you are taking of or waiting for someone to come to your help or warm your baby food..also try to accumulate everything in one big cabin bag, thats filled really nicely upto baggage limits,,rather then 2-3pieces of luggage.i wouldnt mind paying 10-20$ extra, if i dont have to worry about the number of luggage..my baby will be obviously one luggage with stroller :))
Have a wonderful trip to HOME.

Good Luck

thanks hetal. i will try these.

yes Hetal, you are right. i have appeared for Cat & Gmat.
i tried my best for IIMs and gave CAT 6 times.then i cleared Gmat and did my masters in one of the best universities in US,ranked well and got cleared in campus interview.
but as if i was destined to be a typical housewife serving a huge joint family & traditional family in country like US. inspite of good degree and on hand offer letter to join a credible company with excellent pay in $$, i was not allowed to work. i feel frustrated sometimes. The only thing that keeps me going with everything around me is my son and my love for my dh.
i will share with you sometimes in detail.i have read your post to everyone, they are very supportive to people esp women abroad.
sometimes i feel so frustrated with my family, i dont know how to deal with them.i think nowonwards i will bother you for that.hope its ok with you.

how do you know that participants in these exams are fast in reading and writing ? looks like you are one of them ? now you tell me, am i right or not ?

i was trying to complete this post since morning and there were lots of breaks.was about to log off & saw your post..you seem to be quick in reading.

keep infant nasal spray, suction bulb/or nasal bulb, and a vicks baby rub with you along with your medicines..keep them in your pocket.esp the infant nasal spray or little noses.some kids get stuffy nose in landing and takeoff, spray whenever they get stuffy and remove if anything in nose.
best to prevent this, before you enter the flight and once you check in, change your baby diaper, clean him well, make him fresh and ready for journey, dont make him eat with full stomach before the journey esp if you are travelling by air, instead offer milk or juice or ne finger food during landing or take off, clean his nose before you enter his flight with a lite spray of nasal spray and if you hear ne mucus, remove it with suction. apply vicks babyrub on his chest, on his feet and on his back of chest and just a touch of smell on his forehead or behind ears..
this will prevent his from stuffy nose, or temp mild cold attack due to temperature differences or high altitudes.

i just finished and posted the long note and i am surprised you read it really fast. infact i was going thru it to make sure i didnt miss nething.you seem to have appeared for some competition or enterance exams otherwise to read this post and respond in that time frame is not normal.m i right.
njoy your journey.
