Refer to my post ‘We are all bald’ dated 26-4-2012. As per the wish of my fil we all had a repeat Tirupati gundu on Aug 4th. All of us – mil, myself, Rachana included – enjoyed our second Tirupati gundu in three months. My mil and I had about one and half inch long hair. Rachana had barbershop gundu twice in May, twice in June and once in July. So she had about half inch hair only. The entire family of six returned bald again on that day to the surprise of neighbours. In the three months since the Aug gundu, I and mil had grown about one and half inch long hair while Rachana had about 2 inch hair. Of course, my husband and son returned to their short crew cut since Sep first week.

Yesterday early morning I took Rachana to the barber shop and asked the barber to give her a boycut – close clippered sides and back and just combable length on top. He did the same. As the manual clipper was run against her head Rachana was beaming. The bald patch was taken to about an inch above the ears. I asked the barber whether the bald patch could be taken up another half inch. The barber said taking it higher will need the top hair to be made very short which cannot be combed. So I agreed for this height. She is very happy with the cut. She looks really cute with the boyish style. I am planning taking it up higher and giving her a crew cut like my son during summer.

Later in the morning myself and mil went to parlour and had our own boycuts – first in our life time. The stylist used electric clippers for cutting our hair. She cut our sides and back with clippers leaving about quarter inch hair. The sensation of the cut was very good. The top hair was cut to a combable length. The overall cut looked very cute. Though we are traditionalists, both I and mil liked our haircuts immensely. I thanked my mil for encouraging me to do this. Even my fil appreciated the cut of his wife . What with his appreciation, my mil is all over herself liking her boyish cut so much that it looks unlikely that she would ever again like to grow it long.

I am also feeling extremely happy with the very short hair on the sides and back and easily comb-able top. My husband is also very happy with my hair cut. So I have also no problem keeping this cut for the next two years. So, as of now it is decided that the first Sunday of every month will be the hair cut day for the ladies of our house henceforth for quite some time. Seema replied. I think even i should try something like that at my place...For that i need to talk to my family, will let you know what ever the reactions i get
