Due Date Club April 2004:Concerns..

Hi! buddies:

Today morning me & my hubby (thank god he is very cooperatibve & caring too..)
were discussing about our discussion board here and how we freely discuss and share our ideas over here...it not only enlightens us but also makes us alert... so we can ask the docs a volley of questions...which they are not bothered to answer...
My doc is 70 years old...very senior in his fraternity ...so he thinks pregnancy to be just simple as typing on the keyboard while we work...little does he appreciate that we are becoming moms for the first time we are completely new...body is behaving differently...overall a complete new and unknown experience..

So, I think he should guide us...actually do a handholding kind of an exercise for us ...teach us how to sit in office during work, how to get up from sleep and get off from bed etc...but he has never told me all this...I am very much concerned...whether he will encourage for a natural chilbirth or not...

Moreover I dont know about any CB classes here...so im confussed what to do...now that we are educated and we surf the net..read good books and exactly know or try to know whats happening inside us...they dont appreciate the fact...they would rather prefer us to be ignorant so that we are not inquisitive..

For the last 15 days or so im having terrible stiffness/pain on my wrists and I read its because the bones expand during pregnancy and the carpel tunnel in the wrist which connects the fingers hurts...if i ask my doc, he's going to give some sort of shit funda and try to keep me quiet ...may be suggest Vit E or B6...god knows..So iam kinda worried...should I take a second opinion from another senior doc or should i continue..

Im sure you friends will give me some hope and guide me..

I fully agree with you Mansi...for docs it is a very normal affair...they must be delivering endless number of babies...but for us this is the first time...so they should be a bit more careful and concerned with us..
Tll then...Take care and Njoy!
Cheers to our good health!

Please pray for me that things go fine..Tks..

Hi Aditi,
As u said we are really conserned abt our little changes. but for doctors its a normal process.Thre is nothing wrong in asking for second opinion. Even my gynec is very resrved type. So every time i used to ask her abt my changes, then she will advise me. Because of this i used to visit my Family doctor ,as she is very friendly and will answer my questions. I used to visit my gynec only for main appts. Other wise for some small quries i will approch my family doctior( Like movements of baby, food habits, etc). So it think there is nothing harm in asking for second poinion.
If you are not fully satisfied with ur present doctor its better to change the doctor, Don;t delay as it is our third trimester. Well ur doctor is old, so he will hv good experince. Usally aged doctors behave like this.So u can take decision soon.Take care and do write to us.

Hi aditi
There is nothing wrong in taking another doctors opinion too. Remember that almost all the doctors just answer the questions that you have and give more explanations for the particular problems that we face, rather than giving guidance to each and every thing that we should do. if you are not at all comfortable with the present doc, then you might have to change doc pretty fast as its already 3rd trim.
hope i havent confused u more.

aditi , looks like you are having a confusing time with your doc. well let me tell you something, i think most docotrs are the same. they never tell you things unless you really ask them or infact sit on their head and make sure they give you a satisfying reply.
the same with my doc, i always make a list of questions whenever it comes to my mind and make sure to ask all those questions in my next appointmets..
and i also make sure i eread abt some things even when i intend to ask the doc the same thing.. that hepls me much as it s a kind of cros checking too,..'
well in the end, i think you need to feel comfortable and not worry too much wwth the doc thing because you have many other things to think abt too. so i think you need to decide fast as to whether you want to continue with the same or switch to someone else. because later stages of pregnancy it mught get hard to find a doc,,
good luck.,.

Hi Aditi,

Naaz here ,
I think you can go for the 2nd opinion.
As one should have free & cool environment & most imp u must feel comfortable & open with the ur gynaec.
So in my view u should consult a 2nd opinion.
But make sure the doc ur visiting is good & well trusted.
Don't worry .Just enjoy pregnancy

Bye 4 now
Mail u soon
Naaz

hi aditi,i agree with u that on this message board ,most of our queries are solved,as far as ur doc is concerned,it is a bit bad on his part that he is so cool abt the whole thing, but i feel there is no harm in taking a secoind opinion from someone else.all docs are the same,i know that better as my presernt gynaec is my third doc,but fortunately the doc i am seeing now is very nice.dont take tension.go and enquire about someone good if u are not happy coz having a good atmosphere to deliver is very imp from our point of view.dont worry, everything will be fine.

nisha.
