hi
i am mom to 13 year old akash.recently the barber shop in our locality closed.so i have decided to take him to the beauty parlour i visit.but there limited hairstyles for boys.i have to choose between a bowl cut and a pixie cut (both center parted).which do you think will make him look cuter and better?

i just confirmed a haircut for my son in the parlour next week.after a discussion with my daughter,we decided that he is going to get a medium bowlcut,with medium blunt fringe(not till the eyebrow) with a center part.

bowlcut is the best option without doubt,and instead of center part, blunt bangs (fringe) would frame the face better
though it can be a tad feminine

tonsure is very simple and we regularly make it a point to get akash a headshave when we visit temples.just 2 months ago,he was tonsured.so for a change i want to try a different hairstyle that looks cute on him.

in that case its fine to give akash a bowlcut.but it is important to select the type of bowlcut for him.a long bowlcut is essentially a bowl cut and the hair from the sides touch the chin.usually a thick fringe is given.undercut involves not trimming(like regular bowlcuts),but complete shaving of the side and rear portions of the head.undercut gives a classy look,a bit feminine,a lot of hair movement,etc.i feel this best suited for your son.also the hair parting is another aspect.center part is the default choice for bowlcuts,though some people opt for a blunt fringe ,which can even reach the eyebrow,though i feel this is strictly for girls.

as neha said the simplest solution is a head shave.you yourself /or any other sibling(like elder sister etc) can do it in your home itself.just buy a razor and shaving cream,and make him bald! boys look very cute when they are bald.also you can do this regularly.

its a tough choice.pixie cut is especially meant for girls while bowlcut is actually for boys only,though now a days it is confused with bob cut.a bob cut consists of a heavy fringe,while usually bowl cut is center parted.also a bob cut has a lot of movement,while in a bowl cut the bottom part is shaved.bowl cut is also not maintanence intensive,just shampoo it and part it in the middle!.so i highly recommend that you give akash a center parted bowl cut
