Due Date Club September 2007:TB Test

Have got a imp question ..here in California the doctor asked me to take a TB skin test and mostly the Indians will show positive because of the BCG vaccination and now she wants me to take a chest x-ray.I am in my 23rd week and really worried and concerned abt the effect on the baby for x-ray.The doctor said she is very confident that I dont have TB but it is a formalilty which we have to do else she wants me to change my doctor.
My other friend who had visited the same doctor during her pregnancy did not take the test instead she gave a written confirmation that she is taking responsibility for any problems. But now the doctor is not ready to accept the letter from she , she says u hav to take the test.

Shud i change the doctor?
I did lot of research that says the effect is very very minor not dreadful, but I am scared.

Please advice has anybody taken such test . Is it okay to do so.

I am a little not to sure wht to suggest but with whtever i have heard till date makes me tell u that a X-ray by an mean is not a good option atleast not till the time u consult someone else...your doc knows you the best but in any case cannot be adament for any kind of test till the time you dont want it...at this stage....PLZ DONT THINK OF TKING A RISK....all the best!!! Last Month I had severe pain in my back (left side). Doctor adviced me to do ultrasound as she was suspecting that it might be a stone... but in U/S report, stone was not visible at all so she said that we cannot undergo with X-RAY at this stage coz it can affect your baby and hence to verify whether this pain is due to a stone or any other reason.. we have to wait till your delivery...

It was my experience but you can ask to your mother or relatives to ask the same thing to any of the Indian Doctor if possible...... Try to consult other doctor too.. and see what they think...

Please do not go for x-ray at this stage. It is NOT AT ALL ADVISABLE. I am surprised why ur doc is insisting for it.
