Health Concerns:For Archie

I am so sorry to be firing so many questions at you of late Archie but I do have one more... I was not sure where to direct my post so if I have chosen the wrong forum I am extremely sorry... I was told that in future pregnancies I will have regular U/S to monitor the baby's umbillical cord but I am at a loss as to how that might prevent a similar situation as the one we've just experienced... Should a knot be found in the baby's cord what can be done about it? I know that the chances of a true knot occuring again are slim but this question weighs on my mind heavily & I can't seem to find any information about how diagnosing it will prevent injury or how doctors go about treating it... Does it just mean I will have more warning that my child may die or does it mean that there is something that can be done to perhaps un-tie the knot... I don't mean to be obsessed or seem overly concerned but I do have my worries and I wondered if you might know the answers to my question... Once again with all of my heart I thank you for any help you can offer... Bless you Archie

Dear Radha,
In fact there is only one solution if found a knot, an emergency delivery, which by the most likely leans to C-section option because this is about saving baby and not brining it through vaginal route.

If baby is found to have cord loop, may be asked to watch movements and little close monitor, if required frequency of ultrasound would be increased to assure that there is no additional loop taking place or loop is not getting towards knot.

Of course all of these observation post 28 weeks would be of great help.

I don't remember as to there is a way to untie the knot in uterus.

Look at this in positive manner that you will get to monitor pregnancy closely and would do everything to assure it's all fine.

Of course there is very slim possibility that such episode will happen. This is absolutely rare complication but better to be safe than sorry.

I don't mind you positing here or anyother board. Although I think trying for baby would be the best choice, where I am likely to look at your post earlier than here. I don't visit this section regularly, say once a week.

Archie
