hi everyone. i have just got married in may . even before our marriage, my husband had proposed for my headshave. at that time i asked him to wait till marriage. just after marriage, he again proposed for tonsure. later i consulted my mother. she told me- go ahead, it wud be a nice experience and u r going to love this.also do it at any relgious place like tirpati,palani or prayag. being my first tonsure i want to njoy my shearing. i need suggestion regarding place for tonsure. waiting for ur suggestions. reply soon so that i cud plan it at its earliest. even my husband is waiting for my affirmation. One more thing I forgot to bring up in my earlier message. You said your mother has supported you. But what about your mother-in-law? If she is not okay with it it is not a good idea to get tonsured.
And does your husband want you to keep your hair short (like boycut) after the tonsure? If that is the case, it is better to go to Prayag and do Venidaan now itself followed by complete mundan. Getting tonsured on the banks of a holy river like Ganga is also quite joyous though of a different kind of experience compared to Tpt' s Kkatta. You can always go to Tpt later for a repeat tonsure even if your hair is just about two inches long. But for Venidaan you need hair long enough to be braided. Radha replied. Dear Riya
Getting your head shaved in Kalyanakatta of Tirupati is the best experience. The hustle and bustle, smiling faces of young and old baldies - both male and female all make for a fine atmosphere to get a nice gundu head. And the tonsure also will be very smooth.
But if you want to get your head shave videoed, then get it done in your cottage in Tirupati and then go for darshan.
