I' m glad that sumone other than me also is very keen 2 know my ultrasound experience:-)Thanks again:-)..Seems like here in due date board evryone is really very happy reading others ultrasound experience:-).Its so gud we cum 2 know wus happning with our bundle of joy:-)..We can check with others ultrasound experience.Seems like here most of their babies were shy:-)...n gals who came to know the sex of the baby,had sum active movements in their baby...hmmm....

hey somya,can u do me a favor?can u just tell me normally what is done in the 2 nd trimester ultrasound,or say 18th week ultrasound?do they take baby' s measurements?I mean,what was stated in ur report?Its gona be great help 2 me,coz day after tomorrow I have mine,so I can ask my doc 2 do all that..I know he will do normally what has 2 be done for 18th week,but just in case,I dont wana miss on anything...So plzzz tell me what do they do?what measurements do they take n write?

How r u doing?howsz ur baby doing?

hmm same pinch again,evn my next ultrasound seems 2 be like on 19th may.I´ ve not fixed the appointment with the doctor,but 19th my doctor told me 2 have as,I´ ll be 20 weeks plus...

so 20th week,u´ ll opt 2 know the sex of the baby? hmm hoping evrything goes on well in this ultrasound...coz this anamoly ultrasound seems 2 be an important one,coz like other moms told,here they check the baby 4m top 2 toe.sO AM quite nervous abt this one....Hope the doctors say evrything is fine,n he says I´ m 20 week plus n not less than that.Hoping n fingers crossed:-)

so have u started showing now?me,yes,I already luk like a momy:-)...

hi megs,
in this u/s, mainly they will take measurement of the baby..like the spinal cord, skull and from head to toe. and they tell abt the baby' s gender. they will also check the placneta. but here the docs dont give us any measurement details..they only told me that everything is okay. they will also check if ur edd is correct.

hello rakhi,
thanks for the input.So this ultrasound sounds 2 be a major one..My aunt(shesz a doc)she told me previously (may be before few year back)they used to do ultrasound on pregnant ladies on 20th week.That wud be the only ultrasound done..in whole of pregnancy...(n just in the last month,if they see any complications then only they wud suggest an ultrasound)..So this means the 20th week ultrasound is a very important ultrasound...hope evrything goes on smoothly:-)

Thanks for responding immediately..:-)n giving me all the necessary information...

Well 2day I spoke to my doctor before fixing an appointment for ultrasound,Then she advised me to have my ultrasound in the 20th week..So 2 more weeks 2 wait:-(She told as now the baby is just 18 weeks,its body parts wudnt be fully formed,so wait till it reaches 20 weeks,n then u can have anamoly scan(ie here they measure baby 4m head to toes,like rose said,n also may be like rev said they check baby´ s weight,liquid level etc..)..Anyways doc said,if I get one scan done now,again after 2 weeks there wud be another scan necessary coz by then only baby´ s body parts wud be completely formed...So she adviced to have only one scan instead of two,in the 20th week...Hmm 2 more long weeks 2 see my baby:-(.n share my experience with u.....

n somya,thanks a million for telling gud things abt me:-)...Baby is happy 2 read abt its mommy:-)...Thanks again sweety:-)

Hi,

For me, the 2nd U/S was not done by my regular gyno, Specialised Radiologist did it. They will check the Placenta posi, cardiac activity, liquid level and babies weight. For me babies weight was low and i was adviced to take lot of protein and to equal it with in sixth month. Bcoz after that we will not be able to equal it.

They also checked whether all the parts of the baby is present from head to toe and whether they are normal. They measured all the long bones and checked is it correct to the period of gestation.

2nd trimester u/s is bit longer than other times. They measure the baby from head to toe and see if you are in right track on the due date. Meausrements of the heartbeat, spinal cord and skull will also be taken. Dr will monitor your placenta if its location is right and also the amount of amniotic fluid in the sac. If you want they would find out the gender .. I think this is what happened in my U/S. HTH!

Have a super duper U/S.. and for sure share your experience.
