Due Date Club April 2004:any remedies for heartburn?
2003-12-16
Name: sharmila

Friends, I have been suffering from severe heartburn for the past few days. Any idea what I can do about it? My doc has prescribed some tablets, but I am totally against taking them unless it is unavoidable. Could someone help me out with a home remedy?

Hi Sharmila,
Sorry to hear that u hv heart burns. Any way don't worry, these are all normal symtomps of pregnency. Even my fruend hd experinced the same.
* Avoide spicy food (Hot)
* Drink Cold milk
*Put cumin pdr(Fry with out oil and powder it) In ur drinking water and boil it .
*Butter milk(diluted) will be helpful
*Katooradi gulika (U will get this tablet in ayurvedic shop) is good for heart burn.
* Don't empty ur stomach, Eat or drink something every now and then.
Try these, I hd posted some home made medicines, The first one ( Jeeraka Kashayam) will be helpful to u.
Take care and keep in tiuch

Hi Sharmila
U can try these tips :
1) Drink cold milk
2) Roast Jeera and when it turns almost black add a cup of water and let it boil for a while. Then pass this thro a seive to filter out the jeera and drink the water.this will help soothe the gastritis/burn.I have to warn u this isnt a v.tasty drink but works real well.
3) Can eat banana/cracker/toast. Avoid eating any other fruits once u get the burn.
4)Try Walking and also drinkin water helps u burp so u can expel the gas that way...:-)
5)Sit in an uprite posn. till the burn goes away completely and dont sleep immdy. after eating.
5)If all else fails and if u suffering badly, u can eat the calcium tablets (TUMS)which probably ur doc. has suggested...

Hope this helps ..

Sharmila,

Sorry to hear that you are having heartburn. I dont have any home made remedies to suggest but for a precaution u can try these:

1) Avoid spicy food
2) Stop or reduce your intake of Chocolates, mint, coffee, fast foods etc
3) Oranges & tomatoes also sometime cause this so check out whether its the culprit by avoiding it for a couple of days.
4) Drink lots of water

Hope this was of some help. Will let you know if I hear about anything more abt this.

~ Mansi
