Due Date Club September 2007:Is this normal?

Hi gals,

From the past few days, I am feeling something strange...
Now I am 16w, 5d pregnant....
I am having lower back pain (a little) and lower abdominal pain..
The lower abdominal pain is really low...and it comes on right side..
And when I am walking a bit fast, then I am getting pubic pain..I feel as if some nerve
in my pubic area is getting stretched...

When I called my doctor..she said..if the abdominal pain is very severe then she asked me to come
to hospital..or else she is saying it is ok..

Did anybody have this type of pain before??....I am not very much worried but just want to know if it is normal or not..

thanks in advance
take care
luv
ramya

I read this in babycenter website..

You' re just a week shy of the halfway mark. You may notice some achiness in your lower abdomen (perhaps extending to your groin) or even a quick, sharp, stabbing pain on one or both sides, especially when you change position or at the end of an active day. This is round ligament pain, and it' s caused by the stretching of the muscles and ligaments that support your growing uterus. It' s nothing to be alarmed about, but if the pain continues even when you' re resting or becomes persistent and severe, call your practitioner.

HTH
Cheers,
Rose

i´ m smily from aug board, i read ur post abt little pain,i want to share my thought , as u all r in 4-5 th month ,the pain is due to utrus streaching, this is called round ligament pain which happens for very short time.after 2-3 days this will go and u will be normal, when i was at the same stage, i also got the same pain for two to three days, and i asked my doc she said the above reason. anyway it varies from person to person so better ask ur doc if the pain is unbearable.
for further info u can search in google with th word round ligament pain. ok friends take care.
bye.

hi gals,
i too have back pain, lower abdominal pain and some kind of strain in the pubic area at times..i asked my doc abt it in the last 2 visits and she said it is due to stretching and is quite normal. i sometimes also feel some very very slight pain or strain around the navel and she said that the navel is stretching so its bcoz of that. ofcourse, it shud be gone is some time..if u feel it is continuous and is too much to bear, then call up ur doc.

take care
rakhi

Hello ramya,
How r u doing?I' m doinf great.Since past few days I can feel sumthing trying 2 run inside,I' m sure its the baby..I cannot feel it always but sumtimes atleast 4,5 times in a day tho sure...It cannot be gas:-)coz gas cannot move that side this side, huun thresz one possibilty it cud be stomach worm:-( Hope it isn' t not...Anyways I feel its the baby only...:-)How abt u?R u feeling its movements?

n regarding pains, hmm I dont have back pain or pubic pain, but yes,I do have very light abdominal pain n that too it cumes n goes at irregular intervals. When I feel that kinda pain,I go n drink sum water. The pain imemdiately goes..I donno how?but it works out fine with me.So may be u shd try that!..n sumtimes I feel, that as we r not used to eat at irregular intervals before, this also cud be a problem. What I mean is,now our stomach demands more,at all irregular times(for tummy n our baby its regular),but for us it aint..We r not used to eat evry now n then,as now our eating demand is more, stoamch makes rumbling voices evry now n thne,if we dont care, then slightly I get abdomen pain.I donno whether abdomen pain has anything to do with hunger, but with me,whenevr that pian cumes,I eat or munch sumthing it bcumes allrite...Hope it works out for u 2...
The scintific reason for the abdomen pain cud be,as our stomach or abdomen stretches,(as it makes way for our lil baby)it causes this pain...May be again..Donno for sure....

anyways howsz baby' s mom doing?do u feel sleepy these days?I feel sleepy a loooooot..Lazy me...

anyways take care n do reply back..
lotsa luv.
megs

that or.. sometimes it was really bad when i had constipation.
and the funny thing is i never had that kind of pain before i got pregnant.. so i used to automatically assume it´ s cramps....

megs is right... try eating at regular intervals?

Hello Ramya,
Even i had ths kind of back pain around 16 th week (i had posted a mssg regarding this prev).I tried to correct my posture. Sleeping sideways and while sitting make sure ur lower back has support. Try to keep ur leg up for some time whenever u can.
I am in 18.4 weeks and get this occassional lower abdominal pain along with those vaginal twinges(as ira had put it).I checked it with my doc and she after checking me said everything is ok. It might be due to the stretching of the uterus as the baby is gaining more weight now.But do check it with ur doc in ur next appt.
Take care.
mou.

hi ramya..
i had all of those symptoms.. but at a very small scale.. more like occasional back pains.. and some twinges in the pubic area....
but if it pains so much that u cannot carry on ur normal work... then maybe u should go to the hospital..
otherwise.. i think it' s quite fine... u' re already in your 16th week... so u' re out of the danger zone...
don' t worry too much!

and if u feel upto it... read the backpain thread which was posted by Mou.. i had read some info on such pains.. and i had typed out pretty much the most information there.... it is a lot! but maybe u' ll find it useful!!
so take it easy..
but be alert!
and take care!
love
ira

hi ramya,

just wanted to share that am also feeling a low abdominal pain and sometimes feel a whiping pain near the lower abdomen & near the vagina also. Sometimes when i walk i feel heavy near the private parts and feel somebody is pushing me down. Though i feel worried, all this goes away n few seconds and i cme back to normal. i am thinking of checking all these with my dr tomorrow as i have an appointment. Will post u once i consult with her. THe main problem is am not able to explain my pain exactly to my dr...but let me try this time. I am 18 weeks 2 days now.

Let me know if u get more info on this...
Also girls sometimes in the nite i feel that i am changing positions very fast...Like am not changing my position slowly...After doing that i wake up anf i feel my baby wd have experienced a rolle-coster inside. But somehow i am continuing it without my knowledge and feel bad when i get up...Is this OK?.

vidhu

Hi Vidhu

Thanks for the reply...
As you have mentioned..the pain is there for a very short time..
Ya even I had problem in explaining my doctor about the pain...
I feel it is slight nerve twisting pain or pinching pain...(donno better way to explain it)

Even I am having the problem in changing position...I am also concerned about it..so now a days when I change position, I just hold my tummy and change...
But I guess baby will not be aware of this as we do many other activities like going in bus etc...
I hope what I am thinking is right...may be some others can add some more info on this...

luv
ramya
