I'm in my 39th week now. Two weeks back the doc said tht the baby's head is fixed and during the last check up she said the head is floating...my due date is on the 8th jan...does it mean i'll deliver post due date...if ever labour needs to b induced how many days after the due date will they do so?

I am quite confused, because in one week your Dr. says babys head is fixed, I hope she did not mean engaged because you say next visit she said babys head is still floating.

you may or may not go beyond date. When to induce after due date is tricky and is handled on one on one basis or by Drs. wish. Many Drs. dont' like to wait and they will scheudle induction next day of edd. some drs, will order sonogram to see whats placneta status and baby size and choose based on results. some drs, will call patient twice a week for NST and based on that choose when to induce.
But normally no one would go more than 2 weeks beyond EDD.
