Bubla
I have read both of your postings on 18th. You have said that you enjoyed your head shave in March 2009. You have also said that you can' t shave just now but have not told why. Hence it is difficult to suggest a solution.
My solution is simple and straight forward. Take a decision that you shave your head every year once - either in Tirupati or elsewhere. In between you keep your head a nice and short boycut. You tell this to your husband and tell him that the head shave could be at a suitable time. I hope he will understand.
By the by when you go for boycuts get clipper cuts on the back and sides. It is highly enjoyable.

Dear Bubla,
There is a barber shop (called saloon in general Indian parlance) not very far from where we live. When I started cutting my hair regularly about 2 years ago I went to this barbershop. Though the males were looking at me getting clipper cuts with astonishment I did not care at all and rather concentrated on enjoying the cut.

Dear Preeti,
Are you cutting your with a male barber like me at salon? How do you avoid other male customers at salon?Sometimes I felt very shy to cut hair in front of other male customers though I enjoyed my cut at salon.

Satish
I know nothing more than what you have read in my 2009 july posting. If you are so much interested in it, ask some knowledgeable purohit or pandit in your area.

Bubla, I forgot to answer one question of yours. After my first shave I was cutting hair regulary for a year. Since last year I have stopped cutting preferring to grow it long till 2013 for doing Venidaan in Prayag - a religious right where the hair is cut off by the husband. Optionally the lady can go for a full tonsure after that which I am going to do. After that I will return to monthly hair cuts - clippered all around to skin and short on top - pucca boyish style.
Another thing. I understand if you feel shy in salon. But why feel shy to get shaved at home? Unnecessary shyness beyond a point is pointless and counterproductive.

Bubla,
No misunderstanding whatsoever. I perfectly understand the predicament a woman faces when she shaves her head and goes around bald. People do ask questions. But in my case things were made easy for many reasons. First, in Andhra people understand that many women go for full tonsure for religious purposes. And when we say so few would object, rather most do admire. And in a society which is beoming more and more liberal short hair on women is getting acceptable if not admired.
I had this desire of getting short machine cuts like men. After talking it over with m-i-l I was encouraged to do so provided I shaved of my hair in Tirupati first. I did it and felt great. In Bank, some did laugh but mostly everyone smiled and accepted me. They giggled more when I had my first boyish machine cut but even that was finally accepted though they started calling me ´ Boy cut Preeti´ . I had full support of my hus and in-laws, I liked my short hair as well as my bald head. I had two tonsures a year apart.
But nobody asked me whether I had cancer. If somebody asks me like that after my next tonsure (2013) he or she is likely to get a nice slap from me.
All you need is some courage - either to get happily tonsured and defend it in front of others or tell your husband that you can´ t do it, irrespective of what he feels. There is no point in causing agony to yourself on a simple matter such as hair.

Hello everyone,
I have medium volume hair but my hair type is very thin and silky. Due to which my hair doesn't hold curls for long hours. I have heard that texturizing spray helps to solve the above problem. Could someone please suggest the good texturizing spray for thin hair?... - Amulya Peru [View Message]
