I need to know something as i am really very worried about this.

My blood group is A negative and when i had my first abortion the hospital had given me the injection as my group is negative and my husband blood group is B positive.

But in my second deliver my son was premature baby i had delivered him at the 27th week and the hospital staff informed me that his blood group is also same as my that is A negative, so they did not give me the injection at that time. But as he was a prematured child he was in the hospital as his lungs had not developed and late after 5 months i came to know that my sons blood group is A positive and not negative, by then it was too late for me to take the injection. My son expired on 21st December 2004.

Now i am pregnent again and when they did the blood test to check if the antibodies have formed it has come positive and the titer says 1/16 in both the test.

When i inquired with the doctor if i can take the injection now they said no the only thing they can do now is keep checking my blood to see if the titer is increasing or not. and if it is the same nothing to worry, but if it increases i will have problem.

Please help me i am in my 23rd week, is there any solution for this. I am in dubai and will be leaving to bombay on the 20th november.

please let me know what i should do.

Roopa your case is really perturbing but i would advice you to stay calm and keep a thorough check/ record of the titer. See these days medical science had advanced alot and there are alternatives to solve your problem. If it would ease ur tension then i would surely mention about My mother and Mousi who are actually Rh -ive and have 3 & 4 children respectively. Surprisingly they didin't know that they are Rh-ive untill their daughters faced problem due to Rh incompatability...so what i mean to say here is-its a matter of chance!! I'am not an expert but a biology Major and am 23 weeks pregnant with O-ive blood group(my husband's BG is +ive). I had certain bleeding problems during first trimester and got a RHOGAM shot then and next is due for november. I tried to collect some information about blood group incompatability and Rh disesase and came to know that in severe cases they do blood transfusion for fetus . you might find the details in paternityangel dot com and ivillage dotcom. I hope things get better with you, belive in god and stay calm else it will affect your health and hence ur baby's!
Moni i would advice you not to get scared or worried in firrst pregnancy if baby's blood group is +ive and urs is -ive then also its not a big problem as your body takes time to create a defense against Rh protein(+ive BG) and most of the times first delivery is normal and offcourse ur Dr is right, RHOGAM is given in 28th week and then after delivery.

My blood grp is also -ve n i'm in 25th week.3 days back had my doc's app n she told me tht i've to take some rhogem(don't no how it spells)shot in 28th week only not before tht.

After hearing ur story i'm bit scared n can't help worrying abt wht'll happen.
Maybe archie throws some light on this.

Anyway v've to keep faith in god,nthg more than this v can do.
