my daughter saanvi is 6 1/2 mths old.
What all solid foods can i give her??
pls advice.

sorry, i was not online for few days, so cudnt reply back..

Yashita is doing fine..yeah, she was born in Cradle..
How about you? are you from Bangalore too?
yeah, when i cook rice, dal and vegetable, i add a pinch of salt and a drop of ghee, just to enhance the taste..but try to give her without the salt if she likes it coz we need to get them used to things with the original taste..
i usually keep them in cooker for 6-7 whistles, make it very soft and mash it nicely..if mashing is difficult, put in mix for 2-3rounds..

pedifill has a lot of different grains, dry fruits and stuff..i have heard even the first bites stuff are good..they have something similar to pedifill..and u dont need to consult a doc for it..it has a good taste and Yashita loves it..no need to add salt or sugar to it..it tastes great without any of that...

great, u from bangalore too and delivered in Cradle..thats cool..
for moong dal, i would suggest to cook rice with moong dal (just like toor dal)..u can make it like a khichri and add vegetables too..it tastes great..

Hi Sunita..
if u r starting cerelac for the first time , then rice is the best bet..rice is usually very smooth for babies stomach and easy to digest..once she gets used to the solid foods, u can bring in more variety..all the best..its fun to watch their expressions everytime they taste something new..

Hi Sunita..glad that u got that issue sorted..

yeah, i know..sometimes u r confused as to what to give the baby..i am just waiting for my daughter to turn an yr old..then she wud be on pretty much normal diet that we have..LOL..

If you have not started cerelac yet, then start with cerelac rice..if you have already tried cerelac rice, then u can start the Cerelac wheat apple..it tastes great and Yashita loves it :)

about the number of solid feeds..i started Yashita on solid feeds once a day when she was 4 months old..so, when she completed 5 months, i started 2 feeds per day - lunch & dinner..and when she completed 6 months, its 3 times a day - breakfast, lunch & dinner..

here´ s how it is:
Breastfeed - morning, when she wakes up..around 7:30/8
Breakfast (cerelac or ragi) - 9/9:30
Milk (Formula) - 11:30/12
Lunch (ragi/fruits/vegetables/rice dal) - 2:30
Milk (Formula) - 5:30
Dinner cerelac/fruits/vegetables/rice dal)- 8/8:30
Milk (Formula) - 10/10:30 before sleep
sometimes she waked up in the middle of the night, and i breastfeed her...

i have reduced the number of BF and i am planning to wean her off by end of april..

Hello Roops... Thank you.... My hubby asked my inlaws not to do so...Anywayz Nxt thing is am so confused abt wat to give archie nxt... I had started wid rice for a week n now she is on mashed apple, nxt am planning to start kichri....Is this fyn or shld I start rice based cerelac? One more thing, I give her food only 1ce a day shld I continue that or increase the number of tymz...

So many questions nah...but plz do reply...Thanks....

Hi Sunitha..its not good..please politely tell ur in-laws not to do it..babies of that age are still not capable of digesting all that kind of food..tell them that you will slowly get her used to different taste once she is atleast 8 months old..also tell them that the doc has advised to introduce only one food at a time to make sure that it is not causing any kind of allergy..and things like tea are unacceptable..u can start biscuits once she is abt 8 months..

its not about being nice..its abt ur baby..u shud make things clear.. all the best..

Worried

Hello Roops n Prathi...Am lil worried frm past 2 days...Actually my inlaws have come to visit us n watever they eat like watever I cuk for ourselves(food that we eat) they jst puts a pinch of it in my baby´ s mouth lyk uppit,poha, tea,dal or any subz saying tht she will know the taste n l8r she´ ll not do any nakhra to eat anything... 2day toh she gave 1 full biscuit in her hand n my poor gal tuk it in mouth as kids do normally n ate almost half of it.....I don say nythng ´ coz they have come here for the 1st tym n that too only for a week or 10 but am worried aloooooot... I jst wanna knw if all this is fyn for few days as they will not stay here for long but am really concerned......

My hubby tells me that I can ask them not to do so but I don, solely ´ coz its their 1st visit....

Wat to do now buddy ?....

i joined back work in Jan when yashita was 4+ months old..i am not into s/w, i am into tech support and vendor management..have been working for more than 7 1/2 yrs now..

@ Sunita..
u r welcome pal..pour in ur questions..will try to help as much as i can..its soo funnay to see their reactions whenever we give them soemthing new to taste..they are soo adorable..

Hi Roops n prathi... Am Sunita frm the Sep board.... My lil Princess Archisha was born on 16th Sep n I had started giving her moong dal frm 29th feb but since then her motions are just not stopping... Had taken her to the doc after 3 days n he asked me to stop evrythng n adviced me to continue wid exclusive breast feeding... Am not sure when shld I try giving her again ?.....

BTW Archisha was born at The Cradle, Bangalore.

even i was giving ragi-dal frm first bites to saanvi.even she had the same problem with moong dal.she got loose motions too.
so i stopped giving that to her n giving her plain ragi now.
i guess u can try giving a little quantity of moong dal after 15 days.chk with the doc.
else giv her rice either cerelac or homemade cooked rice.

im currently giving 4 feeds.she eats 4-5 spoons in each feed.im giving her ragi porridge and rice with some veggies as of now and cerelac rice.

do u mix carrot n apple n banana with cerelac or giv it separately??
also what is pedifill??is it similar to cerelac n nestum??
btw which place ru frm??ru working??

i gave saanvi some steamed n mashed apple yday but i feel she didnt like the new taste :) n she refused to eat it.is it the same with ur baby also?

soo many questions...hehehe..but i am glad to answer all..

how many solid feeds do u giv her in a day??
so far only 2 - lunch around 2:30 and dinner at around 8..but her doc has asked me to give one for breakfast in the morning, will start sometime this week.

how many milk feeds??
i give her formula feed 3 times a day..6 ounces each..one at morning after bath around 11:30, one in evening at 5:30 and one at night before bed at around 10..i give her my BF when she wakes during the night and in the mornings (1 or 2)

how many spoons does she eat in each feed??
Cerelac - 7 scoops
Ragi (pedifill) 3 scoops
Apple - Half
Carrot - i give the sweet carrot about 1/2 or 3/4 depending on size.
Banana - small elakki banana - 1 1/2

do u mix carrot n apple n banana with cerelac or giv it separately??
No, Separately. I mix carrot with daal and rice

also what is pedifill??
Its ragi and other grains..available in Cradle Bangalore..

btw which place ru frm??

Yes, i work full time..in noon shifts..2pm-11pm..

Hi Prathi..welcome to the club..even my daughter Yashita is also 6 and half months old..she was born on Aug 25th..whats Saanvi' s birthdate?

These are the things that i am giving her:
Cerelac (rice flavor) - have brought Wheat apple flavor, will start next week.
Cooked and mashed carrot
Cooked and mashed apple
Mashed banana
Ragi porridge ( I buy readymade food called Pedifill)
Cooked and mashed Dal and rice with some vegetables.

I am planning to introduce more vegetables into her dier now like potato, sweetpotato etc..
