Due Date Club January 2007:Vaginal Obstruction

Hello Archie,

I am in my 9th month of pregnancy. I have been given EDD as 4th of Jan 07 in the latest scanning report 2 days back.

However, offlate I am having a concern. From my 6th month of pregnancy, I am feeling some rough thing in my vagina. I did not understand what it was. However in my latest checkup with the doctor, I told her about it and my concern about any possible obstruction. She initially said it could some infection and suggested some cream and tablets. However, there is no bleeding or itching to relate it to an infection. I told her again about what I feel. Then she did a vaginal checkup and said there is nothing of that sort and everything is fine.

But I am still not convinced thoroughly. How is she saying that everything is fine when I am able to feel something rough inside my vagina? During the course of my readings, I read about something called 'Fibriods'. Could it be something like this.

I am really scared as I dont understand what that rough thing is. Is it some kind of an obstruction in my birth canal? Will I have problems in delivering my baby? Is it really an infection?

Please tell me what it could be and try to dispel my fears.

Thanks in advance
Sheetal

Sheetal,
I don't think your extrapolated view on concern is fair. Because if an internal confirmed that cervix is fine and that area around is alright then no matter what the rough feeling is it will not affer vaginal delivery or in otherowrds won't have trouble for baby to come through birth canal.

I don't think it's fibroid either as it will be in uterus and which not accessed by hand due to closed cervix and if there were any then ultraound you have had would have picked it up.

You might have vaginal dryness and that could make you feel some obstructed feelings, make sure you have good amounts of fluids and keep well hydrated.

Always itchiness or pain indicates infection but having no sign does not mean there is no infection, some are latent one remains un-noticed due to lack of any symptoms.
