Skin Talk:Upper lip waxing!
2002-06-08
Name: Confused, Please Help!

I usually remove the unwanted hair from my legs by doing waxing. I get my eyebrows corrected by threading. I was asked few times by my beautician whether I would be interested in removing the upper lip hair by thereading? One of my friend says that she does waxing at home for this. The other says that threading is best and I am really confused.

I am not sure which one I should go with? By doing this, Am I going to create the situation where I should do it thru my lifetime? Will either one method make me get more hair grow?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Hi there,
Since i have hairs on my leg, arms, underarms, bikinis & upper lip, i have brought BRAUN hair remover. In this u have a an epilator & shaver. Its better u use epilator to all these hairs at diff places but if it pains u can use shaver for under arms and bikinis. So like that u can use epilator for upper lips too where the effect is same as threading. It can remove the tiniest hair over upper lip.
Hope this helps u.

Hi !

I feel threading is the best means to remove upper lip hair. I am doing threading for the past five years and I feel that is the best means to get rid of upper lip hair. You can do it once in fifteen days.

Take care.
Regards

hi susan,
you cant wax your upper lip until the hair grows a little.. because wax needs to grip the hair before it can pull it out. It's best to stick to threading. If you want to try waxing at home, buy katora wax and try that. you will be able to remove finer hair. threading is the best. try and do it yourself. it takes practice but u will get it after some time.

Hi,

It is better you do bleaching, but not frequently. Do it once for every 2 months. Or else go for threading, I usually do threading since I'm afraid to use bleach on my face, since it is chemical. Threading keeps my upper lips without any hair for about 3 weeks. I usually do it myself. It is very easy to do by yourself. So try it at home. But before you start threading just apply some powder on your upper lip and you won't feel much pain. Waxing is quite dangerous since your upper lip is soft and waxing is not advisable on soft areas of skin. Hope you liked my advice.

Take care.

Hi

I have the same problem. If u want to you can ty this - wax you uppelip and then emove the fine hai by theading. This, way, atleast fo 20 days u can be tension-fee. Bleachin damages your skin if used too fequently. All the best.

Hi

I agree that bleaching damages the skin (if done quite often) and it also makes the skin dry. I do bleaching once a month and then thread it often. U have suggested to do waxing and then thread the fine hair. I have tried waxing the upper lip but the small hairs just dont stick to the wax. If I want to do waxing, I'll have to let the hair grow, which means I'll have to wait for 15-20 days for the hair to grow big and then wax it but wont it look bad during those 20 days when the hair will be big (will look just like a moustache). So can u please tell me how to wax the upper lip?

hi.. i would definitely recommend threading the hair on your upperlip. bleaching just lightens the hair and you can still see a fine blonde moustache but susan is right - u can try it out first though there's really no need - everyone should get rid of the upper lip hair. threading cleans it up totally and i would definitely recommend it over waxing.

Hi confused,

If u have never removed hair from your upper lip, then before deciding to remove it, try bleaching it and see if u feel a difference. Bleaching lightens unwanted facial hair (U can use Fem or Jolen bleach). If ur hair is too coarse then maybe bleaching wont look good as bleaching makes the hair golden. Then u can go in for threading or waxing. If u opt for threading u will have to do it every 3-4 days. But if u decide for waxing then the hair grows at a slower rate but the problem in waxing the upper lip is that once u wax it, u will have to wait for the hair to grow a particular lenght to wax it the next time which I'm sure will not be suitable. But in threading even if the hairs r tiny u can remove it. My suggestion would be to give bleaching a try first. I too have the same problem. So I bleach my face once a month and in between do threading. All the best!

Hi Susan,
Thanks for your ideas/suggestions. Yes, I have never removed my upper lip hair before. Also, I have soft and thin hairs on my upper lip area and on my face. So, I think the bleaching would really work for me. I will definitely try it. Thanks again for your reply. :)
