Hello all,
Can somebody help me with a home remedy for constipation.Every time i go for bowel movemnt,it seems i am passing thru hell.I am taking iron and calcium supplement.Eating lot of veg and fruits and fluids-but of no help.
Posting this mssg just to see if u have somethings for advice.

some things you could do:-
1. If your fruit diet does not include bananas - then include atleast 2 of them rightaway in your daily diet.
2. Keep away from white bread, try and eat chapatis if you can.
3. Try to eat foods that contain roughage- like sweet potatoes, also when you eat some fruits - eat them with their skins ( like apples, mangoes etc.
4. Keep a tab on the amount of water youre drinking everyday, and try and increase the amount, it would mean an increase in the bathroom visits, but its better this way than being constipated.

try one fig or one prune soaked over-night.. fig is the best remedy.
i had serious constipation since i conceived.
i agree with smily.. drink lots of water and walk a little in the morning.. inside the house is fine....
also my doctor gave me a fibre which is like isabgol.. and completely safe to be taken in pregnancy to eat every night after dinner with lot' s of water.
my midwife said... in the morning before breakfast have a fruit... preferably the canned or bottled fruit( because it does' nt cause gas) with something warm.. and have breakfast only after that.
also ensure you eat oil in your food... not the oil added while cooking.. but oil added over your food... even ghee over your dal will do. make sure you eat atleast 2 Tbsp of oil in a day.
other remedies... have an apple everyday. eat lots of fibre rich food... brown bread, rotis, rice, veggies steamed, fruits etc.
also.... i find that a yoghurt drink which contains lactobacillus works.. like ' actimel' . every morning on an empty stomach.
and last!! 2 glasses of prune juice make you go.. and once you get a motion.. have a glass of prune juice everyday... it keeps you system going.
i know i wrote a lot of advice.. but believe me... i do most of it.. i start with actimel, a soaked fig, have an apple daily.. eat steamed veggies with rice and added oil, a canned fruit first thing in the morning with warm milk.... and fibre in the evening... and i drink atleast 4 litres of water daily on compulsion....
because i had a hell of a time when i was constipated!!

Gayathri replied. My doctor advised me to take extra iron. For avoiding constipation I was advised to take more natural iron supplements like spinach, jaggery, dates etc so that you can reduce the tablet supplement a little.
Also, I don' t know if you know this but if you take iron within the 3 hours of taking calcium then iron has no effect. So make sure you take calcium and iron atleast 3 hours apart.
smily replied. hai iam from aug board, i wish to give a suggestion, take lot of water ,especially 2 to 3 glasses in morning (before break fast)and also take goa fruit and pomogranate.they helped me lot. i think these will work for u .ok all the best.
