hi all

Here goes my article-4.

EPIDURAL - IS IT SAFE?

QUESTION-1
A) I want to know that is it safe to have epidural in vaginal delivery and tell me the side effect of this?

B) We talk abt pregnancy - but now if time is close around 37 weeks..so a question abt postpartum. Please tell me what should we eat after delivery? should we take any precaution in our diet ? Tell me about the Ajwain kind of stuff. should we eat ghee..if yes then how much we need?

ANSWER-1
Epidural is safe in most cases but in a few it brings down the progress but depends on who is making epidural for you and how much experienced is the anesthecist.

you can eat things you like, mostly green vegetables, no cabbage, limited beans, limited potatoes. I think on spices and dryfruits each state differs and you must request this to your mother or mil.

Include garlic and asafotida, fenugreek seeds in diet to have better taste for milk, ward of constipation and milk production respectively. Ghee should be in limit unless you lost lot of weight during and post weeks of delivery.

SALADS

QUESTION-2
After delivery, while breastfeeding can we take salad dressings?

ANSWER-2
You will have to be cautious for raw eggs till you stop breastfeeding. Otherwise its ok.

REGARDING HEMARROIDS

QUESTION-3
yday morning i noticed a small skin like thing in my rectum area. i was soo shocked. My husband told that it is smaller than a raisin and it is pinkish. i was soo much tensed. he said it looks like piles. then i searched in some sites reagrding this. Here they call it as hemarroids as it is common in pregnancy.then i got bit relieved. it went off in 3 to 4 hrs.im very much worried now. can u tell me what is the reason that i got this hemarroids. i didnt had constipation through out this pregancy.will i get it again? do i need to avoid any kind of foods? im taking all the foods with correct amt of salt. no fried foods.

ANSWER-3
Hemorrhides are common in pregnancy and they don' t hard your baby. They may get worse or mostly they get better after delivery, can' t say about that.

Try to have balanced fiber diet or inlcude more fiber in your diet. If needed or painful then take some Docusate sodium (talk to your OB for right dose) to soften the stool.

MILK AND GHEE

QUESTION-4
People ask me to take milk + ghee for dilation of cervix and my mother also told me to take this. So when should we start and how much amount of ghee is needed? Any other thing which we can do for easy labor?

ANSWER-4
You can add 1/4th to 1/2 tea spoon of indian ghee in a glass of (300 ml) warm milk and drink at least once a day.
Walking is necessary.
Squatting if possible.
You can try to do some poccha if body permits
And also washing some clothEs on your own in tub by seating in squatting position.

You can do anytime after 9th month.
