Due Date Club April 2007:pls pray for me

hi friends

hope all of u r doing well. i went and met my gynao on saturday for regular check up. when i called her last week itself to fix my appt she asked me \" whether i could feel my babys movemens continuously?\" - i said \" Yes\" . then she asked me to inform her immediately in case i there r no movements in any particular day and i said \" ok\" without understanding the real seriousness of y is she asking me these questions when i am in 35 weeks.

so this saturday i went with my mom and my gynao said \" the scan doctor had called my gynao and told that the umblical cord is around the baby' s neck\" and the scan doctor has neither told me nor has written the same in my ultrascan report.

she has just called up my gynao later and had informed her. i took the last scan on 18th of feb when i had completed 32 weeks. so now my gynao has asked me to go for another scan this weekend as i' ll complete 36 weeks by this wednesday.

she has suggested another scan center - i believe which has 3D scan. normally i was going for 2D scan. i am going for that scan. by gods wishes i want to rule our cord around baby' s neck. all of u pls pray for me.

moreover in the last 3 weeks i hv gained 3 kgs of weight. my gynao said - it is fine if we gain 2 kgs per month. anyway she said no harm as i wass 44 kgs before pregnancy and 57 now.

however i am more upset from sat afternoon. one thing C-Section will become compulsory if cord is around babys neck or if the baby is overweight. baby was 2.2kgs after 32 weeks.

also gynao says it is dangerous to the kid if we go for normal delivery if cord is around babys neck.

i am trying to keep me cool which is becoming next to impossible now. even otherwise this last 4 weeks seems to be like a very looooooong period for me. i hv sleepless nights due to continuous back aches.

anyways i request u all to pray for me that cord shd not be around baby' s neck and i shd hv a normal delivery and a safe and healthy baby.

wishing all other moms also good luck.

urs friendly

hi all

thanx a ton to kalika, priya, hello, sunshine and AVB.

thanx for ur words of encouragement. also thanx to all friends at aprilmoms2007 yahoogroups. i am moved by all ur support for me when i am down morally.

today i feel more like ok. i am slowly tuning my mind to be open for planned for C-Section also.

at the same time, being a very normal human being - my inner heart is praying for the scan report to say that cord is not there around baby' s neck.

anyways let me keep my fingers crossed till this weekend. as all of u said - health and safety of my lil one is more important to me than anything else.

once again i want to tell my heart felt thanx to all of u.

sunshine - i am staying at my moms place now... so already i am the only one in the bed :(

my dh and my parents are also saying that their main criteria is -\" i shd be stress free\" .

so i am trying to b cool... one thing that makes me go happy is even when i am typing this my lil one is happily moving inside.

definitely when my lil one sees this world - i' ll ask him/her - y did he/she bother his/her mom so much before birth?

thanx for all ur concerns and prayers. shall update u all after the scan.

with loads of affn
saradha

Hi Saradha,

The positive side is that you will complete 36 weeks...which is almost full term. Now the priority is the baby and its health. Lets wait with hopes and see what the scan result turns out to be. I suggest that you should have an open mind for the mode of delivery. Recovery might be a little slow after a c-section but otherwise can you tell me any negative/long term effect it has on you or your baby? So trust your doctor and decide accordingly.
With best wishes and prayers,
AVB.

Don' t worry, babies are babies and they will play with things.. I agree with Kalika,Priya & \" Hello\" . Things will be fine. Wish u all the best.
And do let us know the good news. Just please try to remain stress free and get as much rest during the day as well as night. I suffer from back aches too and I found that it helps to keep u' r head slightly elevated, with pillows supporting your tummy, back, and knees & legs. (Yup, you' re hubby will probably have no space on the bed, but u need your rest now!)
Take care,
Good luck!
Love,
Sunshine

about the cord being around the baby' s neck. There are millions of baby born around the world with cord around the neck. As your OB says ,you need to watch for movements and report it to your OB. Cord around neck does not warrant a c section per se. I' ve known quite a few cases of babies(in my own family) that were delivered vaginally with the cord around. If you check on babycenter webiste ,you' ll get a wealth of information on this subject.
I think you are getting stressed for the smallest of reasons ,blame it on the initial period of uncertainity of your pg. Sleep can be evasive from this point so try to sleep for small stretches in the nights atleast. You could also try a warm shower before going to bed or soak in a warm bath. That should help. Also ask your folks to rub your back and keep a lot of pillows while you sleep for support and comfort.
U/S reports on weight are only guestimates and can be way off the mark. Baby starts to gain 1 lb from now on ,so your baby is never going to be on the higher side. She can check your pelvis and let you know if your baby can make it thru the birth canal.
And if you feel that your OB is rooted for a c section, don' t hesitate in changing your OB and go for one who supports vaginal delivery.
HTH and All the best

Hi Saradha,
Please don' t worry. I am sure all will turn out well. I' ll be praying that your scan comes out fine and even if you have to go for a c-section, think that it is best for the baby. My doc has told me that I would most probably have to go for a scheduled c-section between 37-38 weeks, she will decide after 36 weeks are over on 23rd March. From what my doctor has told me, it is completely safe. If they do a scheduled c-section (as opposed to an emergency one) the biggest advantage in India at least is that the paedetrician is in the OT to check on the baby immediately. Your worrying will cause the baby more stress so try not to. I know how hard it is because I also worry. It is very hard when it concerns the baby but we have to try.
Take care and post a message about your scan when you get it done.
