Baby Sitters and Creches:Expectations in child care of working moms

Hello All
Let me introduce myself as an erstwhile software professional working mother, with a five and a half year old child.

I have been a regular visitor to this site and wonder, what do working moms who work hard and earn well expect in terms of child care.

An infant , may be needs food hygiene love and care, but I often as a mom have struggled to provide more than that to my child since she was 2.5 years old
I would love to hear from you all what do you exopect as a child care for kids more than 4 year old? how do you make the logistics

For the older kids Is it sufficient to have a maid who can give food and be physically present, or a day care where they can play and stay...?
What about sports and physical activities? What about the need to encourage, initiate and involve young kids in meaningful games aparet from free play?
What about nutrition? what about extra curricular activities they are interested in .
If you donot live in an apartment how do you ensure that your child has enough interaction and playmates
language development, thinking development?
All these have always gnawed at me, and I have taken a break having worked for 11 years, to find answers
Each of you would have your own desires in bringing up a child, your own logistics/ arrangements that work well
May be someone has grandparents , I would like to start the message board to share all these and then maybe form a club or a group albeit an informal one where we all can together provide ample opportunities for the children we have given birth to :-)
Awaiting your response

Hi Nandita,
Its good you have taken a break to look after ur kid. I had a very good maid, but after she left, I know maids cannot do what moms can do.
You should look for opportunity to work from home or nearby and spend as much TIME not money on ur kid. Afer few years they will be busy with studies and friends. All the time and values u have given wil shine that time.
I too was a software professional and the timing were hectic and so was the schedule, as the purpose of working was getting sidelined. I regretted it a lot, but now no more.
