Did you get your boycut ? By the way, you have mentioned that you almost get your sons clippered haircuts - why is that so , won' t they be teased at school or may be the cut wouldn' t look odd but a decent to look at? and do you also get your daughter the boycut in the same barbershop or a parlour ? Preeti replied. Sorry Anita, I forgot to answer all your questions. Why keep the boys' hair clippered close? Well, if done correctly (the level of clippered area should be same on both sides, the level should dip a little at the back, there should be a gradual increase in hair length from the bald clipper area to the hairy top, the front hair should be slightly longer than the short hair on the crown)it looks fantastically beautiful on boys. And I have seen our barber does it on many boys.
It is also healthy, easy to give them regular oil baths, easy to clean after they come back sweating after playing, less scope for lice.
It also inculcates a sense of discipline in them which our family treasures a lot.
And so far they have always enjoyed the clipper runs on their napes and the bristly touch after the cut.
And teasing by friends in these things happen the first time only. When somebody repeats it, they get the message that ' this fellow is not bothered about my teasing' and the teasing tapers off. Preeti replied. Dear Anita
It is only about six weeks since my head tonsure and I have about three fourth of an inch or so of hair. I need some more growth before I attempt my boycut. I am expecting to do so around first week of September. We will take a decision then - whether to wait for another month and get a SBS boycut (Short back and sides boycut) or go ahead with a crew cut.

My daughter' s biweekly tonsure series is not yet over. Hitherto we got her head shaved only three times after our Tirupati tonsure. I think we will get her head shaved one or two more times. We have no problem since she is enjoying it anyway. She has agreed to start growing her hair long, after this academic year. From November onwards till April she will also get a SBS boycut like mine in the same barbershop. Even I will get my boycut done in the same barber shop for which the barber (whom we know, as I have already said) has agreed.

I have seen a number of boys sporting very short hair and a clipper or machine cut for young boys is the done thing in some families. Some friends do tease but boys can take up that much from others. We intend to keep their hair short with close clipper cuts on sides and back and fairly short on top till they pass out SSC.
