Failed my 1 hr glucose test. I have a reading of 139. Am asked to go through the 3 hr test. Has somebody gone through it? Any tips/suggestions? I didnot have a problem in my first pregnancy. Am just getting a little scared :-)

Also sometimes i feel dizzy and tired. Am in the 28th week, btw. Is it preclampsia? I have read abt it online, my doc hasnt confiremd it through. My legs and face are badly swollen.

I dont think u need to worry....Many people do fail in the 1 hr test and only 15% of those donot clear the 3 hr test....

A three-hour glucose tolerance test is then used to help the doctor diagnose you. A special diet should be followed for three days before the exam. For 10 hours to 14 hours before the test, you should not eat or drink anything but water. The test is usually done first thing in the morning at a doctor' s office or lab. First, a fasting blood glucose is drawn. Next, the woman drinks a liquid that contains a high concentration of glucose. Blood glucose samples are drawn every hour for the next three hours.
The normal blood glucose levels after the test should be

Fasting blood glucose 80 mg/dL to 100
One-hour blood glucose 120 mg/dL to 185
Two-hour blood glucose 105 mg/dL to 160
Three-hour blood glucose 90 mg/dL to 140

Anyways just browse the bet for further info...I have heard people say its done this way....

paruldhawan replied. i am also diagones as gestational diabetic , so don' t worry just go for strict diet control esp cut on sugar , total no to sugar and sugar related item ,sugary fruits and juices big no you can go for only citrus fruits and no juices eat at regular interval
