Hi, we have taken a vow that we will shave at Tirupati whenever we go next. I wanted to confirm,is it possible to shave in the local temple and keep the hair in an auspicious place and put it in Tirupati whenver we go next? if not can we send the shaved hair to tirupati with anyone who would be going to Tirupati? Kindly advise as I am planning to use this summer vacation to shave my hair and I would get some manageable hair by July end. Moreover, my hair is also dropping drastically from few days now. luciya replied. I appreciate the concern which is been rose. It is good that you and your family have decided to shave heads in Tirupati. One can shave his/her head anywhere. But many women who do not even trim their hair shave it off in Tirupati. This is due to the holyness of the place and the act of tonsure at that place. Shaving your hair elsewhere and sending the hair to Tirupati temple - this practice should be done in the rarest of rare cases where a visit to Tirupati appears impossible in a reasonable time. I suggest that you wait till you get the opportunity to go to Tirumala. By shaving and sending hair you would not get the happiness and contentment that you get by tonsuring at Tirumala.
