Hi archie,
I had written to you earlier...regarding spotting. SPotting does not happen everyday..on days it does it is a small brown spot...a dot..That brings me to my question, is there any problem if I and my husband have sexual intercourse at this time. I am 14 weeks pregnant. Please advice.

Dear firsttime pregnant,
No sex at this stage until you don't experience spotting or assure by ultrasound that placenta is moved upward-posterior and there is all green signs for sex.

Dear Archie,

Today, I went for my ultra sound just to check why I was spotting (occasionally). I was under the impression that I was 16 weeks pregnant (my LMP is Dec. 19th) but after the scan the doctor said that I am actually only 15 weeks pregnant. The EDD has moved from Spet. 26th to Oct. 5th. SHe also said the reason why I was spotting could be that my placenta was lying low earlier but now it is going back to the right position. Can the placenta go back to the wrong place again...Please advice.
Otherwise, the baby is fine. Archie, the doctor told me that if I had the AFP test done, I might have come postive for Downs syndrome bec. they thougth I was 16 weeks pregnant when it is only 15 weeks..
Under your advice, my husband and I have avoided intercourse..but we do go for long walks. A few days back, we went shopping..spent a lot of time walking...the next day, I had another drop of blood. But with the u/s result, I am quite relieved...
The doctor gave me pictures of the U/S. I could see the baby's face. Its eyes were bigger than any other feature on its face. Is this normal?
Archi, I know I am asking a lot of silly questions. But being my first time (with the pregnancy), I am just scared about everything..I am just so grateful to you for taking the time to answer questions no matter how silly they may be. Thank you.

Dear firsttime pregnancy,
It's still a spotting type, just because it was not apparent and got dried in the path does not mean it's blood from urine or some alarming situation.
As long as you heard sound heart beats you should be worry free.
Learn to enjoy intimacy without intercourse. I don't know how long but until you finish your 20 week ultrasound and find that placenta is moved upward posterior you can avoid intercourse.

I know your spouse and you may not like but I think this is good solution at this moment.

Archie, my spotting had stopped and I had the entire course of medication for the UTI.I and my husband waited for a week after i had my medication, and since there was no problem, we thought everything was alright. During weekends, for some reason, i can't drink a lot of water (on other days, at office i drink about 1-2 bottles of water). On saturday, we had sexual intercourse (with condom) and had no problems. On Sunday, I started to find dry blood when I would wipe after urination. We went to the doctor the next day. She did an internal examination and didn't see anything wrong. She even made us hear the heartbeat of the baby. She said the heartbeat seems to be fine. She has asked us to do a ultrasound in a few days time. COuld there be any problems? SHe has taken a urine sample ...just to check whether the infection has gone or is still there. I am not sure whether the blood is coming from the urine or from the vagina. But i would think if it is from the vagina, the doctor would have found that out through the internal check up..Right? IS blood coming from urine a bad sign? Please advice
