Since summer is approaching, my wife has advised me to get a shorter haircut preferably a crewcut with sides and back cut short using machine or scissors since I have rough hair and faster hairgrowth. She says though it would may look strange for a week, it will be cool for me afterwards and says it is good if I have that style till summer is over.

I don' t know what to do - I want to get some opinion to show to my wife that people don' t encourage such cuts - your thoughts are welcome if you support or don' t support such cut. Sekar replied. If cut properly, crew cut is one of the best haircuts for a man. To look good, you must fulfil these things. The machine cut should be to around an inch above the top of ears, not too much higher. There should be a proportional dip at the back for the machine cut portion. The top should be around half to 3/4 inch long. The front should be cut a little longer, say about 1 inch. The transition from the machine cut portion to the top hairy portion should be smooth. If the cut is like this, it would look and feel very good.
So go ahead, follow your wife' s advice and enjoy the cut.
It is rare that women like their husbands to go for a crew cut. When your wife supports it why do you miss the opportunity? Cel replied. If you are not comfortable with the style your wife suggests, then tell her that. After all it is your hair. But as a married women, I like my husband to look nice and I think it goes both ways. And I do like short haircuts on men (not crew cut though). Makes them look clean and dignified. Hate the lion look. But that' s my opinion. There are other (short) cuts you can get if you don' t like crew cut. Look some up on the web and maybe both of you can look it up and pick some looks that would work. Should be a fun project.
