My 3-week old baby has a lot of discomfort from gas. We thought we would try giving her fennel tea/water. How much fennel should be used to make the tea?

I've also seen a few postings about ajwain - have you had any success with this as well? How much ajwain to use?

Iam giving Ajwain and fennel water
to my Rithu(5months old).Its working good.I read somewhere in this site that it works as homemade remedy for colic like Gripe water.

Bye.Tc. momtwiceover replied. Fennel ajwain water both wud work but it is not advisable to give it directly to such a small baby. What shud be done is that if the mother is breast feeding then she shud drink it. About 1 litre of water ,add to it 2tspns of fennel and let it boil for few mints till it gets to about 800ml .Then the mother can sip it thru the day just before feeding. Also the problem cud be that the mother if feeding is eating certain foods which the baby cannot digest easily so beans,spicy food, oily food ,certain dals are to be avoided atleast till the baby is about 2 mnths old. If mother not feeding then maybe you can try to give this water to the baby with a dropper before bedtime. But acc. to me tea shud be avoided.
