This is regarding head shaving at tirupathi especially women. Recently my mother has shaven her head in tirupathi. She has a vow that after the sucessful completion of mysister marriage she vowed that our family will offer our hair to Lord Venkateswara the almighty god. Everything went smooth we planned to go to tirupathi. Now its time to convince my father about my mothers tonsure. I took that chance and convinced my father in tirupathi only. The day after we reached tirupathi we three went to the Kalyanakatta for tonsuring. we have collected the tickets and blades and stood in a different queue. My mother came to me and said that she was tensed abt tonsuring. I encouraged her and taken her to the barber. before she sat she has made her hair and scalp wet for smooth shave. She got her turn and sat crosslegged in front of the barber he made her waist length jet black thik hair loosen and pour some water and made readyfor shave. He made the the total hair in to two parts and changed the Blade in the straight razor and bent my mom' s head and started shaving from the top towards the back after completion of backside of the head he done all over running his straight razor in a jet speed and completed the task with in 5 minutes. Its nice to see my mom in new look. She never had her hair cut from her child hood for that reason she felt tense. Now she is very happy for the completion of her vow. Now she is having a nice bob cut.

Tonsure to bob cut is about eight inches while even two inches are sufficient for a nice boy cut. And eight inches of hair growth normally requires 12 to 16 months. That means Vamsikiran' s mother' s tonsure should have taken place around Feb 2007. Can it be termed ' recent' ? I would have felt good for Vamsikiran' s mother if what he has written is really true. But I feel that this is a story and not a fact.
