Hi all, I am 14 weks pregnant and had been tested positive for HBsAG, a marker for Hepatitis-B. I want to know what effect it has on my pregnacy and on my baby. I am very worried having heard of different versions of the effects from different people. I have been also tested positive for some virus like herpes, rubella etc, of course not active now.
I request anyone (esp Archie) to please guide me in this matter. am not able to think anything other than the effect of these on my baby. i am waiting for ur reply. PLEASE

Everyone of us have viruses and bacteria in our body even if dont have any disease or symptom.

Even if you have high titers to various virus, dont go in for any immunization as it mayb harm you and your baby.

Dear Rani,
Yes, your pregnancy needs to be monitored closely. You will be offered more ultrasound and also some additional tests on immunological aspects. Will be asked to keep track of baby development once you start feel baby movements. Also your weight gain is important in your case. Do not ignore any of discomforts.
Most importantly do not stress out as it has strong impact on your developing baby inside and would affect it badly if you stress out.
Good luck
Archie
